As a fascinating conjugated polymer, graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) has become a new research hotspot and drawn broad interdisciplinary attention as a metal-free and visible-light-responsive photocatalyst in the arena of solar energy conversion and environmental remediation. This is due to its appealing electronic band structure, high physicochemical stability, and “earth-abundant” nature. Zinc oxide can be called a multifunctional material thanks to its unique physical and chemical properties. The first part of this paper presents the most important methods of preparation of ZnO divided into metallurgical and chemical methods. The mechanochemical process, controlled precipitation, sol-gel method, solvothermal and hydrothermal method, method using emulsion and microemulsion enviroment and other methods of obtaining zinc oxide were classified as chemical methods. In the next part of this review, the modification methods of ZnO were characterized. The modification with organic (carboxylic acid, silanes) and inroganic (metal oxides) compounds, and polymer matrices were mainly described. Finally, we present possible applications in various branches of industry: rubber, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, textile, electronic and electrotechnology, photocatalysis were introduced. This review provides useful information for specialist dealings with zinc oxide.

Zinc Oxide-From Synthesis to Application: A Review.

The invention relates to a preparation technique of ceramic target with Li doped with ZnO, which pertains to the preparation technical field of ceramic target material. The process is that: zinc nitrate, lithium nitrate, urea and glycine are fully mixed then put into a beaker; the obtained material is added with deionized water, and is stirred, so as to lead the material to be fully melt; the melted solution is heated and sent into an evaporator, leading combustion reaction to be occurred and synthesizing Li doped with ZnO powder body; the powder body is grinded, then is sintered in a discharging plasma sintering furnace; the obtained product is the Li doped with ZnO ceramic target. The invention has the advantages of raw material being easy to be obtained, short process period, high purity and being evenly doped; in addition, acceptor doping is realized for the element Li used for substituting for Zn in lattice ZnO, and the using of the ceramic target is in favor of the preparation of Li doped with a P-typed ZnO film.

ZnO nanostructures and the application in perovskite solar cells

The authors investigated the performance of ZnO nanowire-based metal-semiconductor field effect transistors (MESFETs) by focusing electron beam on the Schottky gate. The MESFET was fabricated by employing Tantalum as drain and source and by using Schottky barrier at tungsten-ZnO interface as the gate. As to I DS against V GS curves, once the gate was illuminated with electron beam radiation, crests with a redshift as V DS increased and a p-type semiconductor transistor behaviour were observed. At the critical points, the value of V DS - V GS revealed a linear behaviour with the increasing V DS . The authors attributed these results to the gain enhanced by electron beam radiation and carrier-trapping process, while the shift may be associated with the image-force lowing effect.

Extreme rainfall and drought events attributed to climate change are anticipated to occur in the current century, resulting in frequent drying and rewetting cycles (DWCs) in soils, which will, in turn, influence soil properties and microorganisms. Sample plots of Sophora japonica, Pinus tabulaeformis, and Ginkgo biloba were selected, and undisturbed soil columns were collected. CK was the constant drying treatment; the precipitation intensities of R80, R40, and R20 were 80 mm, 40 mm, and 20 mm, respectively, and the total precipitation for the four treatments was 160 mm. Significant differences were observed in the cumulative CO2 emissions among the various DWC frequencies for the same woodland soils. A significant correlation was observed between the Birch effect and the DWC frequencies of the three woodland soils. A Pearson’s correlation analysis revealed that background nutrient contents were the key factors influencing alpha diversity. In conclusion, DWCs generally increased CO2 fluxes, cumulative CO2 emissions, and the Birch effect in addition to decreasing the alpha diversity of soil microorganisms when compared to those in the constant drying treatment.
