Bacterial seed endophyte shapes disease resistance in rice
Haruna Matsumoto,Xiaoyan Fan,Yue Wang,Peter Kusstatscher,Jie Duan,Sanling Wu,Sunlu Chen,Kun Qiao,Yiling Wang,Bin Ma,Guonian Zhu,Yasuyuki Hashidoko,Gabriele Berg,Tomislav Cernava,Mengcen Wang +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the hidden role of seed endophytes in the phytopathology paradigm of 'disease triangles', which encompass the plant, pathogens and environmental conditions, was highlighted.

Microenvironmental Interplay Predominated by Beneficial Aspergillus Abates Fungal Pathogen Incidence in Paddy Environment.
Xiaoyan Fan,Haruna Matsumoto,Yue Wang,Yang Hu,Liu Yufei,Hongda Fang,Bartosz Nitkiewicz,Sharon Yu Ling Lau,Qiangwei Wang,Hua Fang,Mengcen Wang +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, Aspergillus cvjetkovicii produced 2(3H)-benzofuranone at early stage to suppress MoPer1 gene expression, leading to inhibited mycelial growth, while azulene produced lately was involved in blocking of appressorium formation by downregulation of MgRac1.

Investigating the Role of Soil Texture in Vapor Intrusion from Groundwater Sources.
TL;DR: Investigation of the role of soil texture in determining the attenuation of contaminant soil gas concentration from groundwater source to receptor building shows no obvious relationship between soil particle size and groundwater source-to-subslab except in the case of a shallow contaminant source, suggesting that an appropriate focus of VI site investigation should include the shallow soil beneath the building foundation.
Estimating the oxygenated zone beneath building foundations for petroleum vapor intrusion assessment.
TL;DR: Results by this new model indicate that even relatively low effective diffusion coefficients of concrete can facilitate the oxygen transport into the subsurface below the building and create oxygenated conditions below the whole slab foundation favorable for petroleum vapor biodegradation.

Physically simulating the effect of lateral vapor source-building separation on soil vapor intrusion: Influences of surface pavements and soil heterogeneity.
Genfu Wang,Yuting Xiao,Jianping Zuo,Yue Wang,Jun Man,Wei Tang,Qiang Chen,Shuaishuai Ma,Yijun Yao,Yijun Yao +9 more
TL;DR: The physical experimental results were used to examine a previously developed analytical vapor intrusion model including the influences of layering and surface conditions and indicate that the attenuation of soil gas concentration with lateral diffusion is observed to be the most significant if with a low-permeability soil layer at the bottom and a high-Permeability layer on top.
