Aqueous zinc ion batteries (AZIBs) with high safety, low cost, and eco-friendliness advantages show great potential in large-scale energy storage systems. However, their practical application is hindered by low Columbic efficiency and unstable zinc anode resulting from the side reactions and deterioration of zinc dendrites. Herein, tripropylene glycol (TG) is chosen as a dual-functional organic electrolyte additive to improve the reversibility of AZIBs significantly. Importantly, ab initio molecular dynamics theoretical simulations and experiments such as in situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and synchrotron radiation-based in situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirm that TG participates in the solvation sheath of Zn2+, regulating overpotential and inhibiting side reactions; meanwhile, TG inhibits the deterioration of dendrites and modifies the direction of zinc deposition by constructing an adsorbed layer on the zinc anode. Consequently, a Zn-MnO2 full cell with TG electrolyte exhibited a specific capacity of 124.48 mAh g-1 after 1000 cycles at a current density of 4 A g-1. This quantitative regulation for suitable solvation sheath and adsorbed layer on zinc anode, and its easy scalability of the process can be of immediate benefit for the dendrite-free, high-performance, and low-cost energy storage systems. 

A Dual‐Functional Organic Electrolyte Additive with Regulating Suitable Overpotential for Building Highly Reversible Aqueous Zinc Ion Batteries

The practicality of aqueous zinc ion batteries (AZIBs) for large‐scale energy storage is hindered by challenges associated with zinc anodes. In this study, a low‐cost and multi‐function electrolyte additive, cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), is presented to address these issues. CTAB adsorbs onto the zinc anode surface, regulating Zn2+ deposition orientation and inhibiting dendrite formation. It also modifies the solvation structure of Zn2+ to reduce water reactivity and minimize side reactions. Additionally, CTAB optimizes key physicochemical parameters of the electrolyte, enhancing the stability of the electrode/electrolyte interface and promoting reversibility in AZIBs. Theoretical simulations combined with operando synchrotron radiation‐based in situ Fourier transform infrared spectra and in situ electrochemical impedance spectra further confirm the modified Zn2+ coordination environment and the adsorption effect of CTAB cations at the anode/electrolyte interface. As a result, the assembled Zn‐MnO2 battery demonstrates a remarkable specific capacity of 126.56 mAh g−1 at a high current density of 4 A g−1 after 1000 cycles. This work highlights the potential of CTAB as a promising solution for improving the performance and practicality of AZIBs for large‐scale energy storage applications.

Low‐Cost Multi‐Function Electrolyte Additive Enabling Highly Stable Interfacial Chemical Environment for Highly Reversible Aqueous Zinc Ion Batteries

Construction of hollow core-shell Sb2S3/S@S-doped C composite based on complexation reaction for high performance anode of sodium-ion batteries

The invention discloses a non-stoichiometric tungsten oxide/titanium dioxide hierarchical nano-heterostructure photocatalyst. W18O49 nano-wires grow on TiO2 nano-fiber surfaces to form a W18O49/TiO2 hierarchical nano-heterostructure. A preparation method of the W18O49/TiO2 hierarchical nano-heterostructure includes steps: adding glacial acetic acid, butyl titanate and polyvinylpyrrolidone into absolute ethyl alcohol, preparing butyl titanate/polyvinylpyrrolidone composite nano-fibers by the aid of electro-spinning techniques, and performing high-temperature calcination to obtain TiO2 nano-fibers; adding tungsten hexacarbonyl into absolute ethyl alcohol, adding the prepared TiO2 nano-fibers, and performing solvothermal reaction to prepare the W18O49/TiO2 hierarchical nano-heterostructure. Photocatalyst materials have super-wide spectrum response range and excellent photocatalytic reduction ammonia-borane hydrogenation performance.

Non-stoichiometric tungsten oxide/titanium dioxide hierarchical nano-heterostructure photocatalyst and preparation method

A method for preparing spherical AgCl/W18O49 composite material includes: pouring solution containing AgNO3 and WCl6 into a high-pressure reaction kettle, feeding nitrogen into the high-pressure reaction kettle to reduce oxygen in the reaction kettle, placing the sealed reaction kettle into a homogeneous reactor, reacting under 150-180 DEG C, cooling to room temperature after the reaction, separating, and drying. The method has the advantages that the self-assembling spherical AgCl/W18O49 prepared by the method is microcrystal-shaped, uniform in chemical component, high in purity and uniform in morphological structure, and the AgCl/W18O49 is of a loose structure formed by the self-assembling of nanowires with the diameter of 0.4-1 micrometers; the product is high in methylene blue absorption performance; the method is low in reaction temperature, mild in reaction condition, low in energy consumption, easy to realize, simple in preparation process, low in cost, easy in process control and short in preparation cycle.

Method for preparing spherical AgCl/W18O49 composite material

The invention discloses a preparation method for a W18O49 ultrafine nanowire. The preparation method has good repeatability and comprises the following steps: a) dissolving WCl6 in triglycol and carrying out magnetic stirring so as to form a blue WCl6 solution; b) transferring the obtained WCl6 solution to a stainless steel hydro-thermal reaction vessel with a polytetrafluoroethylene inner liner, sealing the reaction vessel, carrying out a solvothermal reaction at a temperature of 140 to 200 DEG C for 5 h and subjecting the reaction vessel to natural cooling; and c) subjecting products to centrifugation, carrying out repeated washing with deionized water and absolute ethyl alcohol and then carrying out thorough drying in an air atmosphere at a temperature of 90 DEG C so as to prepare the W18O49 ultrafine nanowire. According to the invention, WCl6 is used as a precusor, triglycol with a high flash point, low vapor pressure, insusceptibility to combustion and blast and extremely low toxicity is used as a solvent, and a solvothermal process is carried out to prepare the W18O49 ultrafine nanowire with a diameter of 0.6 mm; the method has the advantages of easiness, practicability, simple equipment, environment friendliness, good repeatability, high yield and a wide application scope; the prepared W18O49 ultrafine nanowire has controllable morphology and is applicable to fields like gas-sensitive materials, sensors and photo-detectors.

As a promising alternative to lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), rechargeable sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) are attracting enormous attention due to the abundance of sodium. However, the lack of high-performance sodium anode materials limits the commercialization of SIBs. In this work, the dual enhancement of SnS2/graphene anodes in sodium storage is achieved through S-compositing and Co doping via an innovative one-step hydrothermal reaction at a relatively low temperature of 120 °C. The as-prepared 7% Co-SnS2/S@r-G composite consisting of 15.4 wt % S and 1.49 atom % Co shows both superior cycling stability (over 1000 cycles) and rate capability, giving high reversible specific capacities of 878, 608, and 470 mAh g-1 at 0.2, 5, and 10 A g-1, respectively. More encouragingly, the full-cell also exhibits an outstanding long-term cycling performance under 0.5 A g-1, which delivers a reversible capacity of 500 mAh g-1 over 200 cycles and still retains a high reversible capacity of 432 mAh g-1 over 400 cycles. The enhancement mechanism is attributed to the favorable three-dimensional structure of the composite, Co doping, and S-composition, which can induce a synergistic effect.
