- 18 May 2020
TL;DR: It is found that CQ could remarkably improve the motor and non-motor deficits, which were based on the reduction of iron content and ROS level in the SN and further improvement in pathology, and it is shown that ferroptosis was probably involved in the pathogenesis of PD.

Iron Overload Resulting from the Chronic Oral Administration of Ferric Citrate Impairs Intestinal Immune and Barrier in Mice.
TL;DR: The present results showed that long-term oral administration of FC resulted in iron overload, which consequently impaired intestinal immune and barrier function in mice, and the effect on intestinal damage may be highly related to the increase of oxidative stress in the jejunum.

The Association of Iron and the Pathologies of Parkinson's Diseases in MPTP/MPP+-Induced Neuronal Degeneration in Non-human Primates and in Cell Culture.
Liangqin Shi,Chao Huang,Qihui Luo,Edmond Rogers,Yu Xia,Wentao Liu,Wenjing Ma,Wen Zeng,Gong Li,Jing Fang,Li Tang,Anchun Cheng,Riyi Shi,Zhengli Chen +13 more
TL;DR: A significant iron accumulation accompanied by both DA degeneration in the SN and motor deficits in the monkey that displayed the most severe PD pathology and behavioral deficits is reported, suggesting that high levels of iron may contribute to or heighten MPP+ toxicity in the later stages of PD.
Soy Isoflavones Improve the Spermatogenic Defects in Diet-Induced Obesity Rats through Nrf2/HO-1 Pathway.
TL;DR: Obese rats model induced by high-fat diets were established and gavage treated with 0, 50,150 or 450 mg of SIF/kg body weight/day for 4 weeks, showing that obesity resulted in spermatogenic degeneration, imbalance of reproductive hormone, testicular oxidative stress and germ cell apoptosis, whereas evidently recovery effects were observed at 150 and 450 mg/kg SIF.
Role of the Death Receptor and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Signaling Pathways in Polyphyllin I-Regulated Apoptosis of Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma HepG2 Cells.
Qihui Luo,Dandan Yang,Qi Qi,Chao Huang,Bing Chen,Wentao Liu,Liangqin Shi,Yu Xia,Li Tang,Jing Fang,Yangping Ou,Yi Geng,Zhengli Chen +12 more
TL;DR: Investigation into the molecular mechanism of PPI indicated that PPI notably mediated ER stress activation via IRE-1 overexpression and activation of the caspase-12 to protect HepG2 cells against apoptosis, and endoplasmic reticulum stress may serve a protective role in this process.
