Activation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase in spinal microglia mediates morphine antinociceptive tolerance.
TL;DR: The present study provides the first evidence that p38 activation in spinal microglia played an important role in the development of tolerance to morphine analgesia.

Alcohol consumption and gastric cancer risk: a meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies.
TL;DR: It was found that alcohol consumption increased gastric cancer risk, where the summary risk ratio was 1.17, and the dose-response analysis showed that every 10 g/d increment in alcohol consumption was associated with 7% increased gastrics cancer risk.
Spinal mitochondrial-derived ROS contributes to remifentanil-induced postoperative hyperalgesia via modulating NMDA receptor in rats.
TL;DR: Findings indicated that ROS-dependent activation of NMDA receptor in the spinal cord might be a potential mechanism underlying remifentanil-induced postoperative hyperalgesia.

Modulatory role of estradiol in nicotinic antinociception in adult female rats.
TL;DR: It was found that female rats showed shorter nociceptive latencies than males, but there was no effect of ovarian status, and new evidence that E2 modulates epibatidine-induced antinociception at the spinal level in female rats is provided.

Preemptive deep parasternal intercostal plane block for perioperative analgesia in coronary artery bypass grafting with sternotomy: a randomized, observer-blind, controlled study

TL;DR: Preemptive bilateral DPIP block provided effective analgesia in patients undergoing CABG during surgery and in the early postoperative period, and the analgesic effects of the DPIP block in the T3-4 and T4-5 intercostal spaces were comparable.
