Abstract : A study is reported of the variations in organizational commitment and job satisfaction, as related to subsequent turnover in a sample of recently-employed psychiatric technician trainees. A longitudinal study was made across a 10 1/2 month period, with attitude measures collected at four points in time. For this sample, job satisfaction measures appeared better able to differentiate future stayers from leavers in the earliest phase of the study. With the passage of time, organizational commitment measures proved to be a better predictor of turnover, and job satisfaction failed to predict turnover. The findings are discussed in the light of other related studies, and possible explanations are examined. (Modified author abstract)

Considering the significance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on the airline industry including safety issues, the purpose of this study is to empirically examine the impact of CSR incorporating efforts to ensure safety (safety activity) on corporate image, customer trust, and passengers’ behavioral intentions in South Korea. An onsite survey was conducted for Korean passengers in three international airports" lounges (Incheon International Airport, Gimpo International Airport, and Gimhae International Airport). The results of this study reveal that ethical CSR and safety activity significantly affect corporate image, whereas ethical CSR, safety activity, and philanthropic CSR have significant influence on customers’ trust, and trust and corporate image affect passengers’ behavioral intentions. However, economic CSR, legal CSR, and philanthropic CSR are not statistically significant for predicting the airline’s corporate image. Moreover, economic CSR and legal CSR are not significant antecedents of customers’ trust for the airline. Based on these findings, this study contributes theoretically to the tourism literature not only by confirming corporate image and customers’ trust as mediating factors between CSR dimensions and customers’ behavioral intentions, but also by incorporating safety activity as another essential and industry-specific CSR dimension for airlines’ CSR frameworks.

The impact of CSR on airline passengers` corporate image, customer trust, and behavioral intentions

ABSTRACT The purposes of this study are to provide a comprehensive understanding of ESG in terms of its dimensionality, and to explore how integrated resort (IR) employee perceptions of ESG practices influence their work attitudes/behaviors. We collected data from IR employees and employed second-order factor analysis and structural equation modeling for data analysis. The results indicated that ESG practices are composed of three distinct but related dimensions (i.e. environmental, social, and governance practices). Our findings suggest that ESG practices have particular importance as a means of supporting a company’s efforts to nurture employee self-esteem and commitment, and thus enhance employee retention.

Impact of perceptions of ESG on organization-based self-esteem, commitment, and intention to stay

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is the company’s contribution to sustainable development. In Indonesia, CSR is generally implemented by large companies in the form of limited liability companies (LLCs) and state-owned enterprises (SOEs). Regulations do not accommodate other forms of companies, such as cooperatives, to perform such social responsibility, which in terms of cooperatives is known as cooperative social responsibility (CoopSR). Instead, the cooperatives are only viewed as the implementing object by the LLCs and SOEs, while not encouraged to perform their social and environmental responsibilities. This article uses a legal dogmatic analysis research method, with the aim to analyze and assess the prevailing regulations concerning CSR and cooperatives. The study shows that, in Indonesia, there are no comprehensive regulations on CSR, but they are spread across various regulations incompletely based on the type of business entity. In the Indonesian Cooperative Law, there is no provision concerning cooperative values and principles on concern for the community, therefore cooperatives are not encouraged to implement CoopSR. To implement CoopSR, the legal and policy strategy needed is through the amendment to the Indonesian Cooperative Law, including CoopSR in the cooperatives’ articles of association and by-laws, and discussing and agreeing to its implementation at the meeting of cooperatives’ members.

Corporate Social Responsibility and Cooperatives Business Sustainability in Indonesia: Legal Perspective

AbstractCorporate Social Responsibility is a concept that dates to the first half of the twentieth century, although only in the twenty-first century it has become a paradigm for most companies. The concept itself is imbued with a certain versatility, as there are countless authors who theorize about it, as well as several theories that attest to its nature, with the work of Garriga and Melé (J Bus Ethics 53:51–71, 2004) being one of the most expressive in that sense. However, to understand the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility and why the concept has been disseminated throughout history, it is pertinent to refer to the advantages that it brings when implemented by organizations, that is, it is pertinent to know the motivations that lead companies to invest in Corporate Social Responsibility. This issue becomes even more relevant in a scenario of crisis, such as the one triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Given this, it is urgent to ask: how are companies assuming their social responsibilities in this pandemic scenario? What guidelines are they following? Corporate Social Responsibility: From the Origin to the COVID-19 Pandemic

This study expands Carroll’s CSR typology with the public health and safety dimension to examine how the airline industry’s CSR and public health and safety activities influence flight attendants’ organizational identification, self-esteem, and commitment to the company during COVID-19. A total of 342 South Korean flight attendants participated in online surveys. Based on social identity theory and using structural equation modeling (SEM), the study reveals that ethical-, economic-, and philanthropic-CSR and public health and safety are positively related to organizational identification and that all are linked to the self-esteem and organizational commitment of flight attendants. However, legal-CSR did not affect their organizational identification. The results suggest that “public health and safety” should be applied when initiatives aim to enhance flight attendants’ organizational behavior. The study’s findings contribute to the literature by extending the original CSR model and providing theoretical and practical implications for academic researchers and airlines during a pandemic.

Impact of CSR on Organizational Behavior during a Pandemic: Highlighting Public Health and Safety in the Airline Industry

COVID-19의 확산으로 전 세계 항공업계는 전례 없는 위기를 맞이하였다. 인적자원 의존도가 높은 항공사는 이 위기를 극복하기 위하여 지속가능한 경영전략 수립과 차별화된 인적자원 관리가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 항공사의 사회적 책임(CSR: corporate social responsibility)에 따른 객실승무원이 인식하는 항공사의 COVID-19에 대한 대응만족, 심리적 자본, 조직몰입 및 고객지향성에 미치는 영향관계를 분석하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 항공사 객실승무원을 대상으로 2021년 12월 1일 ~ 12월 6일까지 온라인과 오프라인을 통해서 설문조사를 실시하였다. 총 408부가 수집되었고, 불성실한 응답을 제외한 360부의 유효표본이 실증분석에 활용되었다. 실증분석은 SPSS 26.0과 AMOS 24.0을 사용하였다. 본 연구결과, 항공사의 CSR은 COVID-19 대응에 대한 객실승무원의 만족에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고. COVID-19 대응에 대한 객실승무원의 만족은 자기효능감, 희망, 회복력과 낙관주의를 포함하는 심리적 자본에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 자기효능감을 제외한 3가지 심리적 자본(희망, 회복력, 낙관주의)은 조직몰입에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 조직몰입은 고객지향성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 분석결과를 토대로 항공사 CSR의 바람직한 방향과 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있는 이론적, 실무적인 시사점을 제시하고자 한다. 

Effect of airline CSR on flight attendants’ psychological capital, organizational commitment, and customer orientation in the COVID-19 pandemic

This study set out to investigate the effects of disaster cognition and disaster risk cognition on the disaster management competence of social workers working in social welfare centers and examine their disaster management competence in details by focusing on the mediation effects of disaster preparedness. The purpose of this study is to establish a disaster safety culture at the organizational level of social welfare centers and to seek ways to strengthen disaster management competence at the level of individual social workers. To this end, a survey was conducted with social workers in social welfare centers(community welfare centers, community rehabilitation centers, and senior welfare centers located in Busan. Total 980 questionnaires were distributed, and 896 ones were returned, and the data of 892 research subjects was used for the descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, structural equation model(measurement model and structural model) analysis, and mediation effects analysis using bootstrapping. The analysis results are as follows. First, it was found that the disaster cognition and disaster risk cognition directly affected the disaster management competence. Secondly, as for the relationship between disaster cognition and disaster management competence, and between their disaster risk cognition and disaster management competence, the mediating effects of disaster preparedness was found statistically significant. In particular, as a result of effect decomposition, it was found that the indirect effect of disaster preparedness had most significant impacts on the disaster management competence, being followed by the direct effect of disaster risk cognition in the order, which suggests that the social welfare academy should increase their interest in disaster preparedness. Based on the above results, it is necessary to seek ways to realize a safety-first organizational culture by raising the value and awareness of disaster safety at the organizational level of social welfare centers. And at the level of individual social workers, it will be necessary to actively participate in various disaster safety education and training. In addition, it will be important to foster expertise and responsibility in disaster safety for the rapid recovery of local communities. Finally, it was suggested that it is important to seek ways to increase disaster preparedness at the organizational level of social welfare centers and individual social workers.
