TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method and a device for accumulating beams and increasing ion numbers in a synchrotron for cancer therapy with heavy ion beams, which consisted of the following steps: implanting the ion beams provided by an implanting device into the synchroron; 2. in an electronic cooling device, generating electron beams with the same average velocity as the cooled ion beams; 3. deflecting the electron beams to a cooling section on the synchoron; 4. enabling the ions to pass through the cooling section to collide with the electrons to act

TL;DR: In this article, the theoretical aspects behind this technique for beam distribution measurement and some simulation results of the detector involved are presented, and a method to obtain parallel electron beam is introduced, and then, EBP as a profile monitor for dense beam is simulated using fast scan method under various target beam profile, such as KV distribution, waterbag distribution, parabolic distribution, Gaussian distribution and halo distribution.
