Transient expression of a viral histone H4 inhibits expression of cellular and humoral immune-associated genes in Tribolium castaneum.
Rahul Hepat,Yonggyun Kim +1 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that CpBV-H4 suppresses both humoral and cellular immune responses of T. castaneum by altering a normal epigenetic control of immune-associated gene expression.

Parasitism of Cotes/a plutellae Alters Morphological and Biochemical Characters of Diamondback Moth, Plutella xylostella
Yonggyun Kim,Ye-Rim Son +1 more
TL;DR: The parasitized DBM exhibited significantly hypotrophied structures in Malpighian tubules, fat body, and testes, while it did not show apparent change in the digestive organ structure.

Development, Reproduction, and Life Table Parameters of the Foxglove Aphid, Aulacorthum solani Kaltenbach (Hemiptera: Aphididae), on Soybean at Constant Temperatures.
TL;DR: It was found that A. solani could survive and reproduce on soybean at temperatures ranging from 5 to 27.5 °C, and the intrinsic rates of increase and the finite rate of increase were both highest at 25 °B, while the net reproductive rate was highest at 20 °C.

Three metabolites from an entomopathogenic bacterium, Xenorhabdus nematophila, inhibit larval development of Spodoptera exigua (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) by inhibiting a digestive enzyme, phospholipase A2
Jaehyun Kim,Yonggyun Kim +1 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the inhibitory activities of the three bacterial metabolites on digestive PLA2 of S. exigua midgut may explain some of their oral toxic effects.

Toll recognition signal activates oenocytoid cell lysis via a crosstalk between plasmatocyte-spreading peptide and eicosanoids in response to a fungal infection.
Jung-A Park,Yonggyun Kim +1 more
TL;DR: Interestingly, an addition of dexamethasone inhibited the PSP activity to induce OCL and Toll signal pathway was associated with PSP action on inducing OCL because RNAi of Toll expression suppressed PSP expression and subsequent OCL induction.
