Sudden death in a case of megalencephaly capillary malformation associated with a de novo mutation in AKT3.
Atsuko Harada,Fuyuki Miya,Hidetsuna Utsunomiya,Mitsuhiro Kato,Takumi Yamanaka,Tatsuhiko Tsunoda,Kenjiro Kosaki,Yonehiro Kanemura,Mami Yamasaki +8 more
TL;DR: Accurate early diagnosis, including imaging and genetic analyses, and the recognition and treatment of critical conditions are required to prevent the sudden death of patients with MCAP.

Maximum 11C-methionine PET uptake as a prognostic imaging biomarker for newly diagnosed and untreated astrocytic glioma
Kosuke Nakajo,Takehiro Uda,Toshiyuki Kawashima,Yuzo Terakawa,Kenichi Ishibashi,Naohiro Tsuyuguchi,Yuta Tanoue,Atsufumi Nagahama,Hiroshi Ueda,Saya Koh,Tsuyoshi Sasaki,Kenji Ohata,Yonehiro Kanemura,Takeo Goto +13 more
TL;DR: In this article , the uptake of amino tracer positron emission tomography (PET) was used as an additional imaging biomarker to estimate the prognosis of glioma.

Human Decidua-Derived Mesenchymal Cells Are a Promising Source for the Generation and Cell Banking of Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells.
Tomoko Shofuda,Daisuke Kanematsu,Hayato Fukusumi,Atsuyo Yamamoto,Yohei Bamba,Sumiko Yoshitatsu,Hiroshi Suemizu,Masato Nakamura,Yoshikazu Sugimoto,Miho Furue,Arihiro Kohara,Wado Akamatsu,Yohei Okada,Hideyuki Okano,Mami Yamasaki,Yonehiro Kanemura +15 more
TL;DR: DMC-hiPS cells showed equivalent characteristics to human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) in colony morphology, global gene expression profile (including human pluripotent stem cell markers), DNA methylation status of the OCT3/4 and NANOG promoters, and ability to differentiate into components of the three germ layers in vitro and in vivo.

Recombination rates of genes expressed in human tissues
Mamoru Kato,Fuyuki Miya,Yonehiro Kanemura,Toshihiro Tanaka,Yusuke Nakamura,Tatsuhiko Tsunoda +5 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that natural selection forms the recombination rate tendencies according to the physiological functions exerted in the tissues, and that Frontal lobe-specific genes with extremely low recombination rates may be candidates for genes related to cognitive abilities that human species have recently obtained.

Development of cell-processing systems for human stem cells (neural stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells, and iPS cells) for regenerative medicine.
TL;DR: The proposed model for the in vitro proliferative process of aggregated human NSPCs is described and it is shown that neurosphere enlargement and NSPC proliferation are mutually reinforcing, establishing that human neurospheres contain a heterogeneous cell population.
