TL;DR: Comparisons of the non-tumorigenic MCF-10A and metastatic MDA-MB-231 breast epithelial cell lines, commonly used as models of cancer metastasis, reveal dramatic differences in their mechanics, migration, adhesion, oxygen response, and proteomic profiles.
Prostate specific antigen detection using AlGaN∕GaN high electron mobility transistors
B. S. Kang,Hung-Ta Wang,Tanmay P. Lele,Yiider Tseng,Fan Ren,S. J. Pearton,Jerry W. Johnson,Pradeep Rajagopal,John C. Roberts,Edwin L. Piner,K. J. Linthicum +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an antibody-functionalized Au-gated AlGaN∕GaN high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) were used to detect prostate specific antigen (PSA).

Fast electrical detection of Hg(II) ions with AlGaN∕GaN high electron mobility transistors
Hung-Ta Wang,B. S. Kang,T. F. Chancellor,Tanmay P. Lele,Yiider Tseng,Fan Ren,Stephen J. Pearton,Wayne Johnson,Pradeep Rajagopal,John C. Roberts,Edwin L. Piner,K. J. Linthicum +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a combination of bare Au gated and thioglycolic acid functionalized Au-gated AlGaN∕GaN high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) to detect mercury (II) ions.

Nuclear Envelope Breakdown Requires Overcoming the Mechanical Integrity of the Nuclear Lamina
TL;DR: Quantitative rheological methods demonstrate that human lamin B1 filaments form stiff networks that can resist much greater deformations than those caused by microtubules impinging on the NE.
80
α-Actinin and Filamin Cooperatively Enhance the Stiffness of Actin Filament Networks
TL;DR: These results suggest that cells combine auxiliary proteins with similar ability to crosslink filaments to generate stiff cytoskeletal structures, which are required for the production of internal propulsive forces for cell migration, and that these proteins do not have redundant mechanical functions.
