Watermarking embeds information into a digital signal like audio, image, or video. Reversible image watermarking can restore the original image without any distortion after the hidden data is extracted. In this paper, we present a novel reversible watermarking scheme using an interpolation technique, which can embed a large amount of covert data into images with imperceptible modification. Different from previous watermarking schemes, we utilize the interpolation-error, the difference between interpolation value and corresponding pixel value, to embed bit ?1? or ?0? by expanding it additively or leaving it unchanged. Due to the slight modification of pixels, high image quality is preserved. Experimental results also demonstrate that the proposed scheme can provide greater payload capacity and higher image fidelity compared with other state-of-the-art schemes.

Reversible Image Watermarking Using Interpolation Technique

VANET security surveys

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) have stimulated interest in both academic and industry settings because, once deployed, they would bring a new driving experience to drivers. However, communicating in an open-access environment makes security and privacy issues a real challenge, which may affect the large-scale deployment of VANETs. Researchers have proposed many solutions to these issues. We start this paper by providing background information of VANETs and classifying security threats that challenge VANETs. After clarifying the requirements that the proposed solutions to security and privacy problems in VANETs should meet, on the one hand, we present the general secure process and point out authentication methods involved in these processes. Detailed survey of these authentication algorithms followed by discussions comes afterward. On the other hand, privacy preserving methods are reviewed, and the tradeoff between security and privacy is discussed. Finally, we provide an outlook on how to detect and revoke malicious nodes more efficiently and challenges that have yet been solved.

A Security and Privacy Review of VANETs

Safety-critical applications in cooperative vehicular networks require authentication of nodes and messages. Yet, privacy of individual vehicles and drivers must be maintained. Pseudonymity can satisfy both security and privacy requirements. Thus, a large body of work emerged in recent years, proposing pseudonym solutions tailored to vehicular networks. In this survey, we detail the challenges and requirements for such pseudonym mechanisms, propose an abstract pseudonym lifecycle, and give an extensive overview and categorization of the state of the art in this research area. Specifically, this survey covers pseudonym schemes based on public key and identity-based cryptography, group signatures and symmetric authentication. We compare the different approaches, give an overview of the current state of standardization, and identify open research challenges.

Pseudonym Schemes in Vehicular Networks: A Survey

This paper presents a literature review of image steganography techniques in the spatial domain for last 5 years. The research community has already done lots of noteworthy research in image steganography. Even though it is interesting to highlight that the existing embedding techniques may not be perfect, the objective of this paper is to provide a comprehensive survey and to highlight the pros and cons of existing up-to-date techniques for researchers that are involved in the designing of image steganographic system. In this article, the general structure of the steganographic system and classifications of image steganographic techniques with its properties in spatial domain are exploited. Furthermore, different performance matrices and steganalysis detection attacks are also discussed. The paper concludes with recommendations and good practices drawn from the reviewed techniques.

Image steganography in spatial domain: A survey

Over the past few years a number of research papers about reversible watermarks has been produced. Reversible watermarking is a novel category of watermarking schemes. It not only can strengthen the ownership of the original media but also can completely recover the original media from the watermarked media. This feature is suitable for some important media, such as medical and military images, because these kinds of media do not allow any losses. The aim of this paper is to define the purpose of reversible watermarking, reflecting recent progress, and provide some research issues for the future.
