An Empirical Study of Flash Crowd Dynamics in a P2P-Based Live Video Streaming System
Bo Li,G.Y. Keung,Susu Xie,Fangming Liu,Ye Sun,Hao Yin +5 more
- 08 Dec 2008
TL;DR: The results reveal a number of interesting observations, including: (1) the system can scale up to a limit during the flash crowd; (2) there is a strong correlation between the number of short sessions and joining rate due to the resource competition among newly joined peers; and (3) the user behavior can be best captured by thenumber of retries and the impatience time.

FS2You: Peer-Assisted Semi-Persistent Online Storage at a Large Scale
Ye Sun,Fangming Liu,Bo Li,Xin Zhang +3 more
- 19 Apr 2009
TL;DR: This paper presents FS2You, a large-scale and real-world online storage system with peer assistance and semi-persistent file availability, in order to dramatically mitigate server bandwidth costs, and represents the first attempt to design, implement, and evaluate a new peer-assisted semi-Persistent onlinestorage system at a realistic scale.

FS2You: Peer-Assisted Semipersistent Online Hosting at a Large Scale
TL;DR: This paper represents the first attempt to design, implement, and evaluate a new peer-assisted semipersistent online file hosting system at a realistic scale and an extensive measurement study at a large scale to demonstrate the effectiveness of the design, using real-world traces that have collected.

Quota: Rationing server resources in peer-assisted online hosting systems
Fangming Liu,Ye Sun,Bo Li,Baochun Li +3 more
- 20 Nov 2009
TL;DR: This paper seeks to explore the design space of new protocols to allocate scarce server resources—including both storage space and bandwidth—in peer-assisted online hosting systems, and proposes the design of resource allocation protocols to address these challenges.
Peer-assisted online storage and distribution: modeling and server strategies
Ye Sun,Fangming Liu,Bo Li,Baochun Li +3 more
- 03 Jun 2009
TL;DR: A mathematical model is developed to characterize and understand peer-assisted online storage systems serving multiple files of different popularity and demonstrates that different server strategies may lead to remarkably different service qualities in terms of average downloading times, peer satisfaction levels and service quality differentiation.
