The CLC-2 Chloride Channel Modulates ECM Synthesis, Differentiation, and Migration of Human Conjunctival Fibroblasts via the PI3K/Akt Signaling Pathway
TL;DR: Findings demonstrate that CLC-2 chloride channels are important for TGF-β1-induced migration, differentiation, and ECM synthesis via PI3K/Akt signaling in HConF.

NPPB modulates apoptosis, proliferation, migration and extracellular matrix synthesis of conjunctival fibroblasts by inhibiting PI3K/AKT signaling.
TL;DR: Investigation of the effects of the chloride channel blocker 5-nitro-2-(3-phenylpropylamino) benzoic acid (NPPB) on cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, cell cycle progression and ECM synthesis in human conjunctival fibroblasts found it inhibited proliferation and migration, while promoting apoptosis in HConFs, by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.
Angiotensin II type 1 receptor blockade suppresses H2O2-induced retinal degeneration in photoreceptor cells
TL;DR: Results suggest that AT1R signaling mediates H2O2-induced apoptosis, at least partially through generating the ROS and increasing the levels of proapoptotic molecules in 661 W cells, and may provide a new therapeutic approach for preventing oxidative stress-induced retinal neural damage.

Hypoperfusion retinopathy and elevated intraocular pressure in a 17-year-old
TL;DR: A 17-year-old man with intraocular pressure of >40 mm Hg is described, and features of HR were found bilaterally in the absence of carotid artery obstruction, suggesting that the elevated IOP contributed to HR in this patient.
