Neutrophil-to-hepatocyte communication via LDLR-dependent miR-223-enriched extracellular vesicle transfer ameliorates nonalcoholic steatohepatitis
Yong He,Robim Marcelino Rodrigues,Xiaolin Wang,Wonhyo Seo,Jing Ma,Seonghwan Hwang,Yaojie Fu,Eszter Trojnar,Csaba Mátyás,Suxian Zhao,Ruixue Ren,Dechun Feng,Pal Pacher,George Kunos,Bin Gao +14 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that neutrophil-specific microRNA-223 is elevated in hepatocytes to limit NASH progression in obese mice and this elevation was due to preferential uptake of miR-223-enriched extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from neutrophils as well other types of cells albeit to a lesser extent.
E-Selectin-Dependent Inflammation and Lipolysis in Adipose Tissue Exacerbate Steatosis-to-NASH Progression via S100A8/9.
Francesca Carnevale,Robim Marcelino Rodrigues,Yong He,Seonghwan Hwang,Adeline Bertola,Bryan Mackowiak,Yeni Ait-Ahmed,Wonhyo Seo,Jing Ma,Xiaolin Wang,Seol Hee Park,Yukun Guan,Yaojie Fu,Tamara Vanhaecke,Dechun Feng,Bin Gao +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a mouse model of NASH was obtained by high-fat diet (HFD) feeding plus adenovirus-Cxcl1 overexpression (AdCXcl1) and treatment with an S100A9 inhibitor (Paquinimod) were investigated using this model, and it was found that E-selectin plays an important role in inducing neutrophil recruitment in adipose tissue, which subsequently promotes inflammation and lipolysis via the production of S100 A8/A9, thereby exacerbating the steatosis-

Kupffer cell restoration after partial hepatectomy is mainly driven by local cell proliferation in IL-6-dependent autocrine and paracrine manners.
Yeni Ait Ahmed,Yeni Ait Ahmed,Yaojie Fu,Robim Marcelino Rodrigues,Yong He,Yukun Guan,Adrien Guillot,Ruixue Ren,Dechun Feng,Juan Hidalgo,Cynthia Ju,Fouad Lafdil,Fouad Lafdil,Fouad Lafdil,Bin Gao +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated whether liver macrophage restoration results from circulating monocyte infiltration or local kupffer cell proliferation in regenerating livers after partial hepatectomy (PHx) and uncover the underlying mechanisms.

MicroRNA-223 restricts liver fibrosis by inhibiting the TAZ-IHH-GLI2 and PDGF signaling pathways via the crosstalk of multiple liver cell types.
Xiaolin Wang,Wonhyo Seo,Seol Hee Park,Yaojie Fu,Seonghwan Hwang,Robim Marcelino Rodrigues,Dechun Feng,Bin Gao,Yong He +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the expression of miR-223 was examined in primary stellate cells (HSCs) isolated from CCl4-treated mice and in cultured HSCs and showed that miR223 inhibited liver fibrosis by inhibiting the transcriptional coactivator with PDZ-binding motif (TAZ)-Indian hedgehog (IHH)-GLI Family Zinc Finger 2 (GLI2) pathway via the crosstalk between hepatocytes and HSC.
Interleukin-20 exacerbates acute hepatitis and bacterial infection by downregulating IκBζ target genes in hepatocytes.
Yong He,Dechun Feng,Seonghwan Hwang,Bryan Mackowiak,Xiaolin Wang,Xiaogang Xiang,Robim Marcelino Rodrigues,Yaojie Fu,Jing Ma,Tianyi Ren,Yeni Ait-Ahmed,Mingjiang Xu,Suthat Liangpunsakul,Bin Gao +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the role of interleukin (IL)-20 in liver disease and bacterial infection was elucidated, and it was shown that IL-20 can aggravate hepatitis and bacterial infections; thus, targeting IL20 holds promise for patients with liver disease.
