TL;DR: It is argued that inclusive fitness theory has been of little value in explained the natural world, and that it has led to negligible progress in explaining the evolution of eusociality, but these arguments are based upon a misunderstanding of evolutionary theory and a misrepresentation of the empirical literature.

TL;DR: It is argued that it is possible to make sense out of the complexity inherent to multiple infections and that experimental evolution settings may provide the best opportunity to further the understanding of virulence evolution.

Local maladaptation in the anther-smut fungus microbotryum violaceum to its host plant silene latifolia: evidence from a cross-inoculation experiment.
TL;DR: Local adaptation in the insect‐transmitted fungal pathogen Microbotryum violaceum and its host plant Silene latifolia is studied and it is found that migration among partly isolated populations may introduce novel host plant resistance variants more often than novel parasite virulence variants.

Host-dependent genetic structure of parasite populations: differential dispersal of seabird tick host races.
TL;DR: Comparing the population structure and dispersal of two host races of the seabird tick Ixodes uriae at the scale of the North Atlantic shows that host‐dependent rates of tick dispersal between colonies will alter infestation probabilities and local dynamics and may modify the adaptation potential of ticks to local hosts.
