The invention relates to a method for testing melatonin. The method comprises the following steps of: 1, extracting a sample to be tested by using a solvent, and extracting the melatonin; 2, filtering and evaporating an extraction solution in the step 1; and 3, adding a detection agent and a buffer solution in the extraction solution evaporated in the step 1, and heating. The method provided by the invention is low in analysis cost without using a precious analytical instrument, strong in specificity and high in sensitivity, and is suitable for testing whether the content of the analytical instrument in medicines and health care products exceeds the standard or not in a field.
