Agricultural Drought Risk Assessment in Southwest China
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors used the Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI), which was computed from high-quality monthly precipitation and temperature data from 92 rain-gauge stations across Southwest China, to study the drought characteristics and their decadal variations from 1960 to 2017.

Changes in Reference Evapotranspiration over Southwest China during 1960–2018: Attributions and Implications for Drought
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper investigated trends in Penman-Monteith evapotranspiration (ET0) and other climatic parameters at 79 stations in Southwest China from 1960 to 2018 by using the Mann-Kendall test.

Spatio-Temporal Variation of Drought within the Vegetation Growing Season in North Hemisphere (1982–2015)
TL;DR: In this article, the authors constructed a normalized difference vegetation index to estimate the length of the growing season for each pixel (8 km) by four widely used phenology estimation methods, and analyzed the temporal and spatial patterns of climate factors and drought characteristics (in terms of the Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI)), within a growing season over vegetation areas of the northern hemisphere before and after the critical time point of 1998, marking the onset of a global warming hiatus.

Spatiotemporal Variations in Drought and Wetness from 1965 to 2017 in China
Zhaoqi Zeng,Wenxiang Wu,Yamei Li,Yang Zhou,Zhengtao Zhang,Shuilong Zhang,Yahui Guo,Han Huang,Zhaolei Li +8 more
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors investigated both national and regional trends in drought and wetness and their various characteristics, including intensity, duration, frequency, and percentage of area affected.
Quantitative Assessment of Agricultural Drought Risk in Southeast Gansu Province, Northwest China
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the Mann-Kendall method to evaluate the risk of agricultural drought in dry agricultural regions and found that approximately 16.1% of the agricultural areas are extremely high risk and 42.2% are exposed to high risk of drought.
