Asynchronous Fault Location in Transmission Lines Considering Accurate Variation of the Ground-Mode Traveling Wave Velocity
TL;DR: In this paper, a grounding fault location method in transmission lines based on time difference of arrival (TDOA) of ground-mode and aerial-mode traveling waves (TWs) is proposed.

Non-synchronous fault location method for half-wavelength transmission line based on amplitude attenuation characteristics of line mode voltage traveling wave
Liang Rui,Peng Nan,Liu Chenglei,Wang Zheng,Yang Zhi,Chi Peng +5 more
- 22 Dec 2017
TL;DR: Based on the attenuation law of the amplitude of the high frequency component when the line mode voltage traveling wave propagates on the half-wavelength transmission line, a non-synchronous fault location scheme was proposed in this article combining the single-ended traveling wave distance measurement with the traveling wave attenuation characteristics.

Power grid fault section positioning method based on fault transient state traveling wave decaying component
Liang Rui,Xue Xue,Yang Zhi,Wang Fei,Peng Nan,Liu Chenglei +5 more
- 22 Feb 2017
TL;DR: In this article, a fault transient state traveling wave decaying component is used for power grid fault section positioning based on a wavelet coefficient module maximum value acquired by conducting wavelet transform on signals obtained after a fault occurs to serve as a characteristic quantity representing initial traveling wave amplitude; the measuring point with the largest characteristic quantity corresponds to one end of a faulty line, the other end of the faulty line is determined by means of the decaying characteristics, obtained when fault traveling waves are propagated through a shortest route.

Liang Rui,Peng Nan,Liu Chenglei,Song Chaoran,Yang Zhi +4 more
- 19 Sep 2017
TL;DR: In this paper, a power transmission line fault locating method was proposed, which overcomes the problem existing in a traditional traveling wave method, performs fault locating by utilizing the linear lagging principle of the phase during the modulus voltage traveling wave propagating process, and is simple to implement.
