Viral load of SARS-CoV-2 in clinical samples.
TL;DR: The viral loads in throat swab and sputum samples peaked at around 5–6 days after symptom onset, ranging from around 104 to 107 copies per mL during this time, which is distinct from the one observed in patients with SARS, which normally peak at around 10 days after onset.

Molecular Diagnosis of a Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Causing an Outbreak of Pneumonia.
Daniel K.W. Chu,Yang Pan,Yang Pan,Samuel M.S. Cheng,Kenrie P Y Hui,Pavithra Krishnan,Yingzhi Liu,Daisy Y M Ng,Carrie K C Wan,Peng Yang,Peng Yang,Quanyi Wang,Malik Peiris,Leo L.M. Poon +13 more
TL;DR: Two 1-step quantitative real-time reverse-transcription PCR assays can achieve a rapid detection of 2019n-CoV in human samples, thereby allowing early identification of patients.

Potential False-Negative Nucleic Acid Testing Results for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 from Thermal Inactivation of Samples with Low Viral Loads.
Yang Pan,Luyao Long,Daitao Zhang,Daitao Zhang,Tingting Yuan,Cui Shujuan,Cui Shujuan,Peng Yang,Peng Yang,Quanyi Wang,Quanyi Wang,Simei Ren +11 more
TL;DR: Thermal inactivation adversely affected the efficiency of RT-PCR for SARS-CoV-2 detection and given the limited applicability associated with chemical inactivators, other approaches to ensure the overall protection of laboratory personnel need consideration.

Contamination by respiratory viruses on outer surface of medical masks used by hospital healthcare workers.
Abrar Ahmad Chughtai,Sacha Stelzer-Braid,William D. Rawlinson,Giulietta Pontivivo,Quanyi Wang,Yang Pan,Daitao Zhang,Yi Zhang,Li-li Li,C. Raina MacIntyre,C. Raina MacIntyre +10 more
TL;DR: Respiratory pathogens on the outer surface of the used medical masks may result in self-contamination, and the risk is higher with longer duration of mask use and with higher rates of clinical contact.
