Green synthesis of hydrophilic activated carbon supported sulfide nZVI for enhanced Pb(II) scavenging from water: Characterization, kinetics, isotherms and mechanisms.
Jianhua Qu,Yang Liu,Cheng Li,Zhao Jiang,Guangshan Zhang,Fengxia Deng,Lei Wang,Wei Han,Ying Zhang +8 more
TL;DR: The hydrophilic porous activated carbon supported sulfide nZVI was believed to enhance the Pb(II) uptake via the synergistic effects of electrostatic attraction, chemical precipitation, complexation and reduction as well as pH-dependent adsorption performance.

Effective lead passivation in soil by bone char/CMC-stabilized FeS composite loading with phosphate-solubilizing bacteria.
Jianhua Qu,Wei Shuqi,Yang Liu,Xinmiao Zhang,Zhao Jiang,Yue Tao,Guangshan Zhang,Bo Zhang,Lei Wang,Ying Zhang +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a bone char supported biochemical composite (CFB1-P) carrying advantages of BC, PSB, iron sulfide (FeS), and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) was designed and applied to Pb passivation.

Magnetic porous biochar with high specific surface area derived from microwave-assisted hydrothermal and pyrolysis treatments of water hyacinth for Cr(VI) and tetracycline adsorption from water.
Jianhua Qu,Siqi Wang,Laiyu Jin,Yang Liu,Renli Yin,Zhao Jiang,Yue Tao,Junjian Huang,Ying Zhang +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, a magnetic porous water hyacinth-derived biochar (MPBCMW3) was synthesized via two-step Microwave (MW)-assisted processes, which achieved pH-dependent monolayer adsorption capacities of 202.61 and 202.62 mg/g for Cr(VI) and TC with quick attainments of uptake equilibrium within 150 and 200 min.

One-pot synthesis of Ca-based magnetic hydrochar derived from consecutive hydrothermal and pyrolysis processing of bamboo for high-performance scavenging of Pb(II) and tetracycline from water.
Brian Neil Peterson,Jianhua Qu,Lin Xiufeng,Ziyang Liu,Yang Liu,Ziyi Wang,Shiqi Liu,Qingjuan Meng,Yue Tao,Qi Hu,Ying Zhang +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a Ca-based magnetic bamboo-derived hydrochar described as Ca-MBHC was synthesized by one-pot pyrolysis, and was applied to remediation of lead and tetracycline (TC) polluted water.

Acclimation of the trichloroethylene-degrading anaerobic granular sludge and the degradation characteristics in an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor
TL;DR: The granulation process was examined in an 8 L laboratory upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor using synthetic wastewater contained trichloroethylene (TCE), which showed that the removal of TCE was caused by both adsorption andBiodegradation but mainly by biodegradation.
