A combined wind turbine and wave energy converter (WEC) into one unit can harvest more power from marine renewable energy and reduce the cost of energy produced. This paper focuses on the WEC of the semi-submersible yaw-drive flap combination (SYFC) concept and presents the novel hybrid system of flap WEC with a yaw control system to avoid the yaw misalignment of flaps and increase the absorbed power by all WECs. The boundary element method (BEM) is employed to predict the semi-submersible platform hydrodynamics response and flap power under different regular sea state conditions. The validation was first carried out for the response amplitude operator (RAO) and spectral density function (SDF) of the semi-submersible flap combination (SFC) for surge, heave and pitch and line tension in the frequency domain. Afterward, the total absorbed power and capture width ratio (CWR) of the SYFC and SFC at different wave periods and wave heights are presented using the optimum damping coefficient. It is found that the CWR of the SYFC is almost 2–2.5 times more than the CWR of the SFC in almost all wave periods. Finally, the hydrodynamic interaction between the flap and braceless semi-submersible of the SFC and SFYC was presented and discussed.

Overview of the Recent Developments in Hybrid Floating Wind-Wave Platforms

In the traditional process of pipeline design, a designer typically creates a general layout of pipeline based on their experience, and then calculates whether the hydraulic calculation of pipeline meets the requirements. This method of design is both time-consuming and labor-intensive. Furthermore, the results are often suboptimal and prone to errors, which creates a lot of waste of human and material resources. The objective of this paper is to propose a computer-aided method for completely automating the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) duct system design process. This method incorporates all the necessary design processes, such as duct selection and hydraulic calculation, and introduces a rule-based divide-and-conquer method to the pipe routing design (PRD). The research assesses the practical effect of this piping design algorithm in a BIM environment using varied building scenarios. The findings show that the proposed method is capable of meeting the design requirements of actual projects. The automatic piping design technique presented in this paper can significantly reduce labor costs associated with HVAC design while eliminating calculation errors and compressing the design timeline for most of the complex projects to within 5 min. 

Realization of rule-based automated design for HVAC duct layout

Ship Pipe Route Design (SPRD) has always been a challenging and critical aspect in the detailed design for various types of ships. However, existing layout methods are inefficient, existing algorithms lack consideration for collaborative layouts in practical engineering, true intelligent design has not yet been achieved, and the issue of collaborative layout of pipes has been insufficiently researched. Based on the aforementioned research status, this paper proposes a novel collaborative pipe layout method. Firstly, a high-dimensional vector encoding technique to innovate the underlying mathematical representation of pipes is proposed, breaking free from traditional constraints. Secondly, a powerful and engineering-applicable hybrid AA-SPOP algorithm is incorporated, which is based on the heuristic swarm intelligence algorithm known as Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (AFSA), exhibits advantages such as high global optimization efficiency and strong adaptability. To mitigate potential issues like suboptimal local optimization and high sensitivity, this paper proposes a parameter adaptive equation and a series of optimization adjustment. Thirdly, a collaborative pipe layout method that considers support equipment is proposed. This paper effectively addresses the lack of research in this area by introducing branch pipe collaboration methods and energy zone guidance methods. Finally, through engineering simulation experiments, the paper demonstrates the efficiency, feasibility, and cutting-edge nature of the proposed collaborative layout optimization method.

Collaborative Layout Optimization for Ship Pipes Based on Spatial Vector Coding Technique

The performance of a spaceborne atomic clock on a navigation satellite and the accuracy of the clock data in broadcast ephemeris are two critical factors for real-time high-accuracy global navigation satellite systems applications. A novel clock performance assessment method is proposed, which is indexed by the maximum clock error, clock rate, and clock drift rate, and the performance of the BeiDou-2 satellite-borne clock is assessed by this method compared to the GPS. To mitigate the negative effects of clock errors on pseudo-range measurements and positioning results, an integrated clock prediction method is also presented in this paper based on polynomial modeling, wavelet denoising, and autoregressive integrated moving average modeling. An example is shown to test and verify the effectiveness of the integrated clock prediction method. Real data clock assessment results demonstrate the equivalent quality of BeiDou-2 and GPS spaceborne clocks. The proposed clock prediction method can be used to detect and mitigate clock errors in broadcast ephemeris. © 2015 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Ship Pipe Layout Optimization Based on Improved Particle Swarm Optimization

Under the same environmental conditions, photovoltaic arrays at different operating voltages will significantly affect the size of solar power. To obtain as much power as possible, the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control method has been invented. Previous studies focused on the tracking problem under local shadow conditions, but the dynamic shadow problem with rapid changes in local shadow was rarely discussed. To solve the tracking problem that the maximum power point has multi-peak and fast-changing characteristics under this condition, this paper proposes a simulated annealing MPPT control method based on particle swarm optimization, which compensates the disadvantages of the memoryless Markov chain in the optimization algorithm by adaptive asymmetric memory factor, thus improving the local search ability and convergence speed in the later stage. The control effect is verified by modeling and simulation in Simulink of MATLAB, and the adaptability of the heuristic control method is reflected by simulating the tracking mode under the moving shadow condition through the actual hardware deployment on the moving car.
