A systematic review of green supply chain network design literature focusing on carbon policy

As concerns about the environment continue to increase and restrictions become tougher, professionals in business and legislators are being compelled to investigate the environmental effects of the activities associated with their supply chains. The control of carbon emissions by governments all over the world has involved the adoption of a variety of strategies to lower such emissions. This research optimizes COVID-19 pandemic logistics management as well as a green closed-loop supply chain design (GCLSCD) by basing it on carbon regulatory rules. This research looks at three of the most common types of normal CO2 restrictions. In the models that have been proposed, both costs and emissions are optimized. When it comes to supply chain (SC) activities, there is a delicate balance to strike between location selection, the many shipment alternatives, and the fees and releases. The models illustrate these tensions between competing priorities. Based on the numerical experiment, we illustrate the impact that a variety of policies have on costs in addition to the efficiency with which they reduce emissions. By analyzing the results of the models, managers can make predictions concerning how regulatory changes may affect overall emissions from SC operations.

Green Closed-Loop Supply Chain Networks’ Response to Various Carbon Policies during COVID-19

Global warming has always been a constant concern for various countries, and carbon emissions are one of the main causes. Accordingly, how to reduce emissions is a problem that enterprises need to pay attention to. The enterprise's emission reduction activities are closely influenced by government policies. This paper analyzes the effect of a hybrid carbon policy, which means a combination of carbon tax and cap-and-trade policies, on the manufacturer's carbon abatement activities and supply chain operations in such a condition that the government operates free and paid carbon emission quotas. The study adopts a differential game approach to examine the optimal decision of the supply chain members. We compare the optimal strategies in centralized and decentralized scenarios and put forward a coordinated contract to achieve the Pareto improvement. Our study shows that the carbon tax rate, carbon trade price and the proportion of paid quota all positively affect the emission reduction activities of enterprises over time, but negatively impact the corporate profit and social welfare. However, the set of above policies is advantageous to consumer surplus within a certain range. As for the revenue sharing-transfer payment hybrid contract, when its sharing rate increases within a certain range, the enterprise's carbon abatement and supply chain members' profits will improve at the same time. The adjustment of the above policies depends on which aspect the government focuses on.

In recent years, significant attention has been dedicated to the design of closed-loop supply chains. However, opportunities exist to refine modeling approaches in alignment with circular economy principles. This refinement could foster the collaborative involvement of customers and retailers, resulting in a more sustainable operational framework. This study aims to address this gap, fostering waste reduction, resource conservation, and collaborative engagement in closed-loop supply chains. Thus, a multi-level, dual-channel green closed-loop supply chain that integrates circular economy principles is examined. We focus on implementing an incentive-based recycling program and examining various closed-loop supply chain settings: centralized, decentralized, and collaborative. We aim to determine optimal equilibrium prices, greening levels, and advertising strategies while considering the concurrent aspects of greening and incentivized recycling in today environmentally conscious era. By developing a demand function that integrates price elasticity, cross-price impacts, sustainability, and advertising, we evaluate performance through numerical examples and a case study in the clothing industry. The findings indicate that a collaborative approach surpasses a decentralized one regarding sustainability, guaranteeing profitability across the supply chain. The study also underscores the trade-offs between centralization and decentralization, with the former failing to ensure maximum individual profitability despite augmenting overall chain profits. Our findings can guide managers in reconciling profitability with sustainability when choosing supply chain structures, accentuating the value of collaborative strategies and green cost-sharing contracts. Furthermore, our results highlight that targeted advertising can stimulate demand for green products, and incentivizing circular economy practices through collaboration can yield positive environmental and economic outcomes.

Jet fuel supply chains are increasingly becoming agile. To build agile supply chains, jet fuel companies first need to have access to a large supply base and secondly need an efficient mechanism for supplier evaluation and selection. In this paper, we analysis the standard for evaluating jet fuel supplier and constructs an evaluation index system for jet fuel supplier evaluation in an agile supply chain. The index system consists of five primary indexes and fifteen secondary indexes. We also develop an evaluation method for jet fuel suppliers based on relational degree analysis and the method is demonstrated with an example.

A Method for Jet Fuel Suppliers Evaluation Based on Agile Supply Chain

Abstract With the deepening of green and sustainable development and the rapid development of the social economy, the modern logistics industry has also developed to an unprecedented level. In the logistics supply chain, due to the high value of the items inside the arrival carton, appearance inspection must be carried out before warehousing. However, manual inspection is slow and ineffective, resulting in the waste of manpower and packaging carton resources, which is not conducive to sustainable development. To address the above problems, this paper designs a logistics supply chain carton packaging quality defect detection system based on improved Single Shot MultiBox Detector (SSD) in the context of green sustainable development. The Implicit Feature Pyramid Network (IFPN) is introduced into SSD to improve the feature extraction ability of the model; the multiscale attention mechanism is introduced to collect more feature information. The experiment shows that the mAP and FPS of the system on the self-built data set reach 0.9662 and 36 respectively, which can realise the detection of the appearance defects of logistics cartons and help promote green sustainable development.
