New tunable-color luminescent materials are getting a lot of attention. Double-doped activated ions are an important research method. Here, CaSrNb2O7:R3+ (R3+ = Sm3+, Bi3+, and Sm3+/Bi3+) are synthesized by solid state method in the air. Phase purity and successful synthesis of samples are confirmed by X-ray diffractometer (XRD) patterns and energy disperse spectroscopy (EDS) diagram. The luminescence properties of samples are studied. CaSrNb2O7:Sm3+ has an excitation spectrum due to the O2- - Sm3+ charge transfer band (CTB) and the 6H5/2 → 4H9/2, 4D3/2, 4D1/2, 4F7/2, and 4I11/2 transitions of Sm3+ ion. The red-orange emission of CaSrNb2O7:Sm3+ is observed because of the 4G5/2 → 6H5/2, 6H7/2, 6H9/2, and 6H11/2 transitions of Sm3+ ion. PLE spectrum of CaSrNb2O7:Bi3+ comes from the metal-to-metal charge- transfer (MMCT) Bi3+ - Nb5+ and the 1S0 → 1P1 and 3P1 transitions of Bi3+ ion. CaSrNb2O7:Bi3+ shows blue emission due to the 3P1 → 1S0 transition of Bi3+ ion. The excitation spectrum of CaSrNb2O7:Sm3+, Bi3+ contains that of CaSrNb2O7:Bi3+ and CaSrNb2O7:Sm3+. CaSrNb2O7:Sm3+, Bi3+ with excitation at 314, 363, and 406 nm glows orange and red-orange, and red emission, respectively. We observe the energy transfer from Bi3+ to Sm3+ ions and the effect of Bi3+ on luminescence properties of Sm3+ ion by their spectra. The optimal Sm3+ and Bi3+ concentrations are confirmed by the concentration dependent spectra. The energy level diagrams of Sm3+ and Bi3+ are used to analyze the luminous mechanism. The results are conducive to the development of new Sm3+ and Bi3+ co-doped luminescent materials. 

Energy transfer and tunable-color luminescence properties of a single-phase CaSrNb2O7:Sm3+, Bi3+

Near-infrared (NIR) mechanoluminescence (ML) materials have been of great interest within biological tissues due to their biocompatibility and suitability for biostress imaging. However, the reported NIR MLs have predominantly been featured with narrowband ML emissions, which may limit their further applications. In this work, a novel broadband NIR ML material of Lu3Ga4.88O12:0.12Cr3+ (FWHM > 120 nm) is reported. By substituting Al3+ for Ga3+, the local crystal field strength and the defect concentration are reasonably regulated, which further improves the NIR ML (650–1000 nm) intensity of Cr3+ ion by 475 %. In addition, by compounding polydimethylsiloxane with this phosphor, the obtained Cr3+ NIR ML film can penetrate 10 mm pork tissues quite well, indicating potential applications for stress distribution optical imaging within living organisms. Expectingly, broadband NIR ML from Cr3+ ions can be obtained by further solid-solution multiple lattice sites substitution, which may provide a new approach to improve the performance of NIR ML materials towards expanded biological applications. 

Cr3+-Activated Broadband Near-Infrared Mechanoluminescence in Garnet Compound

The development of efficient luminescent materials that can compensate for the cyan gap is essential for actualizing high-quality full-spectrum white light-emitting diode (wLED) illumination. In this paper, a novel blue-emitting phosphor Gd3SbO7:Bi3+ was synthesized with an emission center located at 449 nm. Based on the cation substitution strategy, the cyan-emitting Gd3TaO7:Bi3+ phosphor is developed by completely replacing Sb5+ ions with Ta5+ ions in Gd3SbO7:Bi3+. Compared with Gd3SbO7:Bi3+, Gd3TaO7:Bi3+ also has an orthorhombic phase with the space group Ccmm, except that its emission wavelength is red-shifted by 45 nm from 449 to 494 nm, and the luminescence color is changed from blue to cyan. Thermal stability measurements demonstrate the negative effect of increasing Ta5+ doping concentration on the thermal stability of Gd3SbO7:Bi3+ phosphors. And a full-spectrum wLED device was fabricated using Gd3SbO7:Bi3+, Gd3TaO7:Bi3+, commercial (Sr, Ba)2SiO4:Eu2+ and CaAlSiN3:Eu2+ phosphors, with an impressive color rendering index (Ra = 94.7, R9 = 93) and suitable correlated color temperature (5832 K). The research results demonstrate the important role of Gd3TaO7:Bi3+ phosphors in compensating the cyan gap, and also provide new insights into the application of cyan phosphors in full-spectrum white light illumination. 

Tunable luminescence spectra of solid solution phosphors Gd3(Sb1-Ta )O7:Bi3+ for ultrahigh color rendering index full-spectrum white light-emitting diodes

Melt-quenched borosilicate glasses, co-doped with Bi and V ions, exhibited broad visible spectrum emissions. Bi ions primarily existed as Bi3+, acting as network modifiers, lowering the glass transition temperature linearly with increasing Bi content. V5+ ions adopted tetrahedral coordination as [VO4]3- units. Photoluminescence of Bi ions is shifted from blue to longer wavelengths with higher Bi content, associated with the stabilization of Bi2+ and the presence of Bi3+ in different local environments. Combined with V ions, the glasses emitted light covering the entire visible spectrum, offering the potential for white LED applications with correlated color temperatures ranging from 6135 to 4010 K. The highest QY was 11.9 and 8.0 % upon excitation at 325 and 340 nm.

Then this paper introduces the hardware and software design of IAD based on NP (network processor). This design use Intel IXP-C and auto-partitioning programming model and implements the essential functions of IAD including voice and wireless processing, DiffServ, traffic management and security, etc.

Design of a network-processor-based intelligent secure IAD

An activator's selective occupation of a host is of great significance for designing high-quality white light-emitting diode phosphors, while achieving a full-spectrum single-phase white light emission phosphor is challenging. In this study, a boron phosphate solid-solution Na2Y2(BO3)2-x(PO4)xO:0.005 Bi3+ (NYB2-xPxO:0.005 Bi3+) white phosphor was designed by selectively occupying Bi3+ activators in the mixed anionic groups. The substitutes of the anionic unit (BO3)3- by the (PO4)3- unit are supposed to force part of the Bi3+ ion to enter the Na lattice site, which produces an intense orange-red emission peaked at 590 nm. In parallel, spectral tuning from blue to white light and an internal quantum efficiency of 56.42% was obtained, and the thermal stabile luminescence intensity remains at 94.2% of the initial intensity after four heating-cooling cycles from 30 to 210 °C (luminescent intensity is 83.6% of room temperature (RT) at 150 °C, with excellent thermal stability and recovery performance). Finally, an excellent color rendering index (Ra = 90.8 and R9 = 85) was demonstrated for white light-emitting diode devices using only an NYB1.5P0.5O:0.005 Bi3+ phosphor and a near-ultraviolet (n-UV) 365 nm LED chip. This work delves into the different selective occupancy of Bi3+ ions and explores a new avenue for the design of phosphors for full-spectrum white light emission.
