Comprehensive suppression of single-molecule conductance using destructive σ-interference
Marc H. Garner,Haixing Li,Yan Chen,Timothy A. Su,Timothy A. Su,Zhichun Shangguan,Zhichun Shangguan,Daniel W. Paley,Taifeng Liu,Fay Ng,Hexing Li,Shengxiong Xiao,Colin Nuckolls,Colin Nuckolls,Latha Venkataraman,Gemma C. Solomon +15 more
TL;DR: The molecular design presented here provides a proof-of-concept for a quantum-interference-based approach to single-molecule insulators, engineered so that conduction is fully suppressed by σ quantum interference even for molecules less than a nanometre long, could prove useful in molecular-scale electronic circuitry.

Large Variations in the Single-Molecule Conductance of Cyclic and Bicyclic Silanes
Haixing Li,Marc H. Garner,Zhichun Shangguan,Yan Chen,Qianwen Zheng,Timothy A. Su,Madhav Neupane,Taifeng Liu,Michael L. Steigerwald,Fay Ng,Colin Nuckolls,Shengxiong Xiao,Gemma C. Solomon,Latha Venkataraman +13 more
TL;DR: The syntheses, electrical measurements, and theoretical characterization of four series of functionalized cyclic and bicyclic silanes including a cyclotetrasilane, a cyclopentasilanes, a bicyclo[2.2.1]heptasILane, and a bicyclosilane are reported, finding an unusual variation of the single-molecule conductance among the four series at each linker length.

Detecting Individual Bond Switching within Amides in a Tunneling Junction.
Mingzhu Huang,Mingzhu Huang,Qinghai Zhou,Feng Liang,Lei Yu,Bohuai Xiao,Yunchuan Li,Mingyang Zhang,Yan Chen,Jin He,Shengxiong Xiao,Shuai Chang +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a transition between single and double bonds between N and C atoms in an amide can be monitored in real time in a nanogap between gold electrodes via the generation of distinctive conductance features.
