A microstrip line fed pentagonal printed ultra wideband (UWB) monopole antenna with partial ground plane having triple notches is proposed. The realized antenna has an operating bandwidth (VSWR ≤ 2) ranging from 3.1 GHz and continuing beyond 12 GHz. A novel mushroom-shaped slotted electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) inspired structure is used near the feedline to introduce triple notches at CBRS (3.5–3.7) GHz, WLAN (5.15–5.725) GHz and X-band downlink satellite communication (7.25–7.75) GHz frequencies. The band notch characteristics are demonstrated with current distribution and impedance analysis. Further, the proposed structure has stable radiation patterns, gain and group delay in the UWB range except the notch frequencies. Finally, a prototype of the proposed antenna is fabricated and measured results are in good agreement with the simulated results.

Design and analysis of triple notch ultrawideband antenna using single slotted electromagnetic bandgap inspired structure

In this letter, we present a novel compact coplanar waveguide-fed CPW-Fed printed monopole antenna for super high Ultra Wide Band (UWB) communication applications. To obtain UWB and to have an effect on the improvement of the bandwidth of the antenna, two modifications are introduced, the first one is to print two symmetric semi-elliptical shaped in the same side with the radiating element and the second one is to modify the triangular patch antenna to be semi-circular triangular antenna. The bandwidth of the proposed antenna is from 4.9-25 GHz. The average gain of the proposed structure is 4 dBi. Both the CST microwave and HFSS 3-D EM solver are implemented for design and simulation. To validate the obtained transient analysis results, the prototype of the proposed design is fabricated, tested and measured. The experimental results show an acceptable agreement with the simulation.

A Novel CPW-Fed Semi-Circular Triangular Antenna with Modified Ground Plane for Super Ultra Wide Band (UWB) Applications

A microstrip line fed planar monopole patch antenna is designed to provide impedance bandwidth (|

| ≤ -10 dB) of 2.56-12.25 GHz, thus exhibiting ultra-wideband (UWB) characteristic. Two metallic strips are branched symmetrically from the patch radiator to generate resonant frequencies at 0.9 and 1.9 GHz, corresponding to GSM operating frequencies. A filtering element based on electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) unit cell is placed near the feedline of the antenna to introduce two notches at 5.17 and 7.97 GHz thereby mitigating any interference from lower WLAN and X-band satellite uplink frequencies respectively. The proposed structure has satisfactory gain at the GSM frequencies and fairly constant gain with a variation of <;2 dB in its UWB operating region except at the notch bands. The radiation patterns are stable and symmetric with low cross polarisation. In order to comprehend the novelty of the proposed structure, it is compared with similar structures found in literature in terms of notch generation, achieving extra resonance outside UWB range, compactness, thickness of the substrate, and maintaining consistent gain in UWB region. A prototype of the proposed structure is fabricated and the measured results are in good agreement with the simulated results.

Design of UWB antenna integrated with dual GSM functionalities and dual notches in the UWB region using single branched EBG inspired structure

The CSRR loaded Sierpinski fractal antenna for multiband applications are presented. This model fairs that the multiband presence of the Sierpinski fractal antenna is a fallout of its fractal nature. The antenna consists of iterations of sierpinski gasket with a complementary split ring resonator. In plan to provoke multi resonant frequency band aspect, these CSRR are implanted back side of the substrate. The simulated results offers a three operating bands, covering C band at 5.72 GHz, Ku band at 14.3 GHz and 16.06 GHz. The size of the CSRR loaded Gasket antenna is 14 mm × 12 mm × 1.6 mm3 printed on FR4 substrate. The parametric review and simulated radiation component are presented.

Ultra-wideband printed antennas for communication applications

In this paper, the design and analysis of a compact coplanar waveguide-fed ultra wideband pentagon antenna are presented. To achieve ultra wideband performance, two modiflcations are introduced. The flrst one is to remove a small fan angle on each side of the ground plan, and the second one is to modify the sharp of the patch in the width. The optimal dimensions can be achieved by a parametric analysis. The antenna design exhibits a very wide operating bandwidth of 16.7GHz with a return loss better than 10dB in the frequency range from 4.46GHz to 21.14GHz. The gain of the proposed antenna is 6.3dBi. This antenna conflguration will be useful for UWB indoor application as it is easy to fabricate and integrate with RF circuitry. All simulations in this work were carried out by using the electromagnetic software CST.
