Generation and propagation of partially coherent beams with nonconventional correlation functions: a review [invited].
TL;DR: A review of recent developments on generation and propagation of partially coherent beams with nonconventional correlation functions is presented.

Self-splitting properties of a Hermite-Gaussian correlated Schell-model beam
TL;DR: In this paper, the Hermite-Gaussian correlated Schell-model (HGCSM) beam with a nonconventional correlation function was introduced and it was found that a HGCSM beam exhibits self-splitting properties on propagation in free space, where the initial single beam spot evolves into two or four beam spots in the far field depending on the initial beam orders.

Generation of Partially Coherent Beams
TL;DR: Partially coherent beams with a prescribed phase, state of polarization, and degree of coherence display many extraordinary propagation properties and are preferred in many applications, such as particle trapping, free-space optical communications, remote sensing, optical imaging, material thermal processing, image transformation, and optical encryption as discussed by the authors.

Optical coherence encryption with structured random light.
Deming Peng,Zhaofeng Huang,Liu Yonglei,Yahong Chen,Fei Wang,Sergey A. Ponomarenko,Yangjian Cai,Yangjian Cai +7 more
TL;DR: This work introduces an alternative optical encryption protocol whereby the information is encoded into the spatial coherence distribution of a structured random light beam via a generalized van Cittert--Zernike theorem, and shows that the proposed approach has two key advantages over its conventional counterparts.
Scintillation index of a multi-Gaussian Schell-model beam in turbulent atmosphere
Yangsheng Yuan,Yangsheng Yuan,Xianlong Liu,Fei Wang,Yahong Chen,Yangjian Cai,Jun Qu,Halil T. Eyyuboğlu +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an explicit expression for the scintillation index of a multi-Gaussian Schell-model (MGSM) beam in weakly or extremely strong turbulent atmosphere is derived with the help of a tensor method.
