Genetic toxicity of the benzene metabolite trans, trans-muconaldehyde in mammalian and bacterial cells.
TL;DR: It is indicated that trans,trans-muconaldehyde is nonmutagenic or minimally mutagenic in bacterial and mammalian in vitro systems and in mammalian cells, MUC is highly cytotoxic and genotoxic.

Genotoxic properties of (E)-5-(2-bromovinyl)-2′-deoxyuridine (BVDU)
TL;DR: Results indicate that BVDU is a potential human clastogen and a 5-substituted 2′-deoxyuridine antiviral compound that inhibits thymidylate synthetase.

Selection of fetal bovine serum for use in the C3H/10T 1/2 CL8 cell transformation assay system.
TL;DR: It is apparent that reliance on cloning efficiency alone would be inadequate as a means of selecting a serum lot and it is recommended that a complete cell transformation assay be performed when selecting fetal bovine serum for use in this assay.

TNF-α release from human peripheral blood mononuclear cells to predict the proinflammatory activity of cytokines and growth factors
Y. Oshiro,Dale L. Morris +1 more
TL;DR: An association between the inflammatory activity of cytokines observed in patients and the stimulation of TNF-alpha release from PBMC in vitro is demonstrated and an in vitro assay system can be used as a predictive tool in determining the inflammatory potential of novel growth factors and cytokines.

Genetic toxicology studies with a tumor promoter.
TL;DR: A diuretic antihypertensive agent and a major metabolite of SC‐33643 are a non‐genotoxic carcinogen producing tumors in rats without altering DNA or chromosomes.
