Long-Reach Coherent WDM PON Employing Self-Polarization-Stabilization Technique
K. Y. Cho,Kazuki Tanaka,T. Sano,S. P. Jung,J. H. Chang,Yuichi Takushima,Akira Agata,Y. Horiuchi,Masatoshi Suzuki,Yun Chur Chung +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, a self-polarization-stabilization technique for the wavelength-division-multiplexed passive optical network implemented with reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers (RSOAs) and self-homodyne coherent receivers is proposed.

Long-reach 10-Gb/s RSOA-based WDM PON employing QPSK signal and coherent receiver
Kuk Young Cho,U. H. Hong,Seung Pil Jung,Yuichi Takushima,Akira Agata,T. Sano,Y. Horiuchi,Masatoshi Suzuki,Yun Chur Chung +8 more
TL;DR: The result shows that the maximum reach of the 10.3-Gb/s RSOA-based WDM PON can be extended to ~80 km without using any remote amplifiers, and the cost-effectiveness is realized by utilizing directly-modulated TO-can packaged reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers and digital coherent receivers.

Enhanced reflection tolerance of upstream signal in a RSOA-based WDM PON by using Manchester coding
A. Murakami,Yeon-Gwan Lee,Kuk Young Cho,Yuichi Takushima,A. Agata,Keiji Tanaka,Y. Horiuchi,Yun Chur Chung +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the reflection tolerance of upstream signals by comparing Manchester-encoded downstream signals with NRZ ones in a RSOA-based fiber loop back system for a WDM PON was investigated.
