Equipment selection is one of the most important aspects of open pit design. The selection of equipment for mining applications is not a well-defined process and because it involves the interaction of several subjective factors or criteria, decisions are often complicated and may even embody contradictions. The aim of this study is introducing a multi-criteria decision making method for selecting the most appropriate combination of drilling, loading and haulage equipment using a state of the art comprehensive model. The proposed method consists of two stages, first is determining the weight of each criteria which affects the decision using fuzzy analytic network process (FANP), the next step is calculating the score of each possible combination of mining equipment using Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The proposed methodology is applied for Sungun copper mine which is the largest open-cast copper mine in Iran and is among the most important copper deposits in Middle East and finally the most appropriate combination of mining equipment is determined for this open-pit mine.

Application of Fuzzy Hybrid Analytic Network Process in Equipment Selection of Open-Pit Metal Mines

In the fifth report of the drinking water infrastructure (2013), the US Environment Protection Agency (EPA) had stated that a total of 384.2$ billion is needed in water infrastructure investments in United States over the next 20 years. About 247.5$ billion, which is 64.4% of this investment, is required for the transmission and distribution segments of the water infrastructure. Thus, it is essential that the water infrastructure functions properly to ensure the continuous supply of healthy water with the required pressure. The deterioration of water distribution networks leads to impaired water quality, increased leakage and breakage rate, and reduced hydraulic capacity. The development of inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation plans is crucial to reduce the failure risk of deteriorated infrastructures. The performance indices of water distribution networks and their components help municipalities plan inspection and avoid crises due to pipe failures and breaks. 
The main purpose of this research is to assess the performance index of water distribution networks by integrating the performance indices of its components (pipelines and accessories). The water distribution network is divided into three hierarchal levels: components, segments, and distribution network or sub-network. To assess the performance indices of water distribution network components, the critical factors affecting them were identified and studied. Three main groups of factors were identified, namely, physical, environmental and operational. Each of the three main groups is in turn sub-divided into a list of sub-factors. The Fuzzy Analytical Network Process (FANP) method was used to obtain the relative weights of the identified factors and sub-factors. These weights were used along with the effect values gathered from the experts to assess the performance index of the various components in the network. The performance indices of the segments were then assessed based on the components that make the segment. The performance indices of various segments were aggregated to obtain the sub-network or network performance using reliability analysis. Network performance could be utilized to prioritize the rehabilitation of components and segments and to construct comprehensive intervention plans for the entire network or sub-network. An Excel-Matlab® interface was developed to implement the developed models that perform the above mentioned procedure.
The resulting performance index, which represents the condition of the water distribution network, helps municipalities to minimize the number of scheduled maintenance activities and to predict the performance of the distribution network. This reduces health hazards and maintains the water supply safe, sustainable, and cost-effective.

Performance Assessment of Water Network Infrastructure

Evaluating Software Quality is a critical and very important aspect of software development. There are several metrics developed to assess different characteristics of a software system so as to evaluate its overall quality. One international standard for Software Quality is the ISO/IEC 9126 International Standard; this standard is "proposed to make sure the 'quality of all software4intensive products' including safety4critical systems where lives will be at jeopardy if software components fail to succeed." However, there is no provision to integrate/aggregate different metrics into one value allowing the developer to comprehend rapidly the quality of a software product without having to refer to several different metrics. We propose in this work a way to aggregate different metrics into a single value using a Continuous Logic -the one proposed in Logic Score of Preference (LSP) method.

Housing policy is one of the major public policies in Taiwan. Since 2006 the cities of Taipei and Kaohsiung have been busy with housing refurbishment as part of the urban policies. However, as for the Kaohsiung housing refurbishment projects, the initial result was somewhat disappointing. Only one out of the twelve applicants who applied for housing refurbishment was subsidized in Kaohsiung; the required subsidy rate for Taipei was also low, 38%. This paper focuses on the performance analysis of the housing refurbishment policy. This paper will use the FANP method to find the factors that could influenced the performance of the housing refurbishment. Through empirical analysis, it was found that the success of the housing refurbishment projects are heavily affected by the factors of economic benefit and policy deliverables. We believed that the proper promotion of house refurbishment subsidy, the transparency of information can consolidate the implementation of house refurbishment policy.

Using Fussy Analytic Network Process to Explore the Factors of Performance Housing Refurbishment in Taiwan

Sustainable manufacturing is a relatively new but a very complex manufacturing paradigm. The complexity arises as this paradigm covers three interdependent yet mutually supporting sustainability dimensions of economic, environmental and social. In a further step to embark on the essence of sustainable manufacturing, the development of appropriate indicators needs to be emphasized as compared to other efforts. Regrettably, the existing indicators have several drawbacks that may
hamper the accuracy of sustainability performance assessment of an organization.
As such, there are only a few standardized indicator mechanisms which can suit specific requirements of various manufacturing organizations. Hence, this study suggests a novel Knowledge-Based Fuzzy Analytic Network Process (KBFANP) system which can assist the decision making process of sustainable manufacturing by developing a new indicator mechanism. The KBFANP system comprises of four
major phases, namely Initialization, Selection, Evaluation and Prioritization. The system incorporates the advantages of Knowledge-Based System Fuzzy Set Theory and Analytic Network Process into a single unified approach as a standardized indicator, which is applicable to all types of problem setting. A prototype of
KBFANP system was developed, tested and analyzed on three experimental data sets and two real manufacturing settings. The system was able to provide solutions on the areas that need improvement with different levels of priority. This study also supports the notion of lean and green manufacturing as the elementary foundation of sustainable manufacturing implementation. The proposed KBFANP system can act as an advisory Decision Support System which is beneficial to both academia and industrial practitioners.
