Hierarchical Soft Slicing to Meet Multi-Dimensional QoS Demand in Cache-Enabled Vehicular Networks
TL;DR: In this paper, a service-oriented hierarchical soft slicing framework is proposed for the cache-enabled vehicular networks, where each slice supports one service and the resources are logically isolated but opportunistically reused to exploit the multiplexing gain.

Traffic information prediction in Urban Vehicular Networks: A correlation based approach
Kaoru Ota,Mianxiong Dong,Hongzi Zhu,Shan Chang,Xuemin Shen +4 more
- 28 Mar 2011
TL;DR: This paper proposes a correlation based traffic estimation algorithm to successfully expand the coverage of taxi sensors and demonstrates the significance of the proposed algorithm by providing the traffic information at any time and any location in Shanghai City.

Efficient Resource Management for mmWave WPANs
L.X. Cai,Lin Cai,Xuemin Shen,Jon W. Mark +3 more
- 01 Mar 2007
TL;DR: By capturing the unique physical characteristics of mm Wave communications and based on the use of omni-or directional antennae, the exclusive regions (ER) are derived to allow efficient concurrent transmissions and an ER based scheduling algorithm is developed to improve the network throughput of mmWave based WPANs by several folds.

Stability analysis of multiple-bottleneck networks
TL;DR: A general mathematical model is developed to analyze network stability for both delay-free and delayed AIMD/RED systems with multiple bottlenecks that may incur non-negligible packet losses.

Reliability optimization of distributed access networks with constrained total cost
TL;DR: A novel algorithm, the Shrinking & Searching Algorithm (SSA), is proposed to speed up the searching process of the system reliability optimization of distributed access networks subject to a constraint on the total cost.
