A Cross-Layer Path Selection Scheme for Video Streaming over Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks
Mahdi Asefi,Jon W. Mark,Xuemin Shen +2 more
- 04 Oct 2010
TL;DR: A new cross layer path selection scheme with quality of service (QoS) support along urban areas is proposed and a cross-layer approach where the routing decision takes explicit consideration of the application layer objective function is introduced.

Fast Channel Zapping with Destination-Oriented Multicast for IP Video Delivery
TL;DR: A destination-oriented-multicast (DOM) assisted zapping acceleration (DAZA) scheme for a scalable TSS-based implementation, where a subscriber can seamlessly migrate from a subchannel to the main channel after zapping without any control message exchange over the network, resulting in improved robustness and reduced messaging overhead in a distributed environment.
Quasi Singularly Perturbed and Weakly Coupled Linear Control Systems
Zoran Gajic,Xuemin Shen +1 more
- 01 Jan 1990
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that the quasi singularly perturbed and quasi weakly coupled linear-quadratic control problems are very closely related to the standard single-and weakly-coupled control problems.

Soft handoff and connection reliability in cellular CDMA downlinks
TL;DR: The results show that the proposed two-phase soft handoff scheme can significantly improve connection reliability and increase system capacity in downlink transmissions.

Performance Analysis of Hybrid Medium Access Protocol in IEEE 802.15.3 WPAN
Lin Cai,Jon W. Mark,Xuemin Shen,Kuang-Hao Liu,Humphrey Rutagemwa +4 more
- 01 Jan 2007
TL;DR: An analytical model has been developed for the coordination between the contention access period (CAP) and the contention-free channel time allocation period (CTAP), where the piconet coordinator (PNC) determines the duration of the CAP.
