TL;DR: The results showed that the as-cast Mg-Sr alloy with coating is potential to be used for bone substitute alternative and the initial degradation could be tailored by the coating protection, which was proved to be cytocompatible and also suitable for bone repair observed by in vivo implantation.

TL;DR: The results indicate that the micro-arc oxidation coating on Mg-Sr alloy exhibited the best corrosion resistance and cell response among these coatings, and is proved to be more suitable for the orthopedic application.
