TL;DR: In this paper, a phenomenological model is constructed and presented to gain insight on the main physical mechanisms causing the observed behavior of PICOSEC Micromegas detector, which is based on a simple mechanism of "time gain per interaction" and employs a statistical description of the avalanche evolution.

TL;DR: The PICOSEC-Micromegas detector was developed for precise timing of the arrival of charged particles with a resolution of 30 ps as mentioned in this paper, and the results of studies related to the development of a large-scale PICosEC-MIMG detector for practical applications are also presented, in particular, the timing performance of a multi-channel PIMG prototype.
