Solubility Determination and Thermodynamic Properties of Bezafibrate in Pure and Binary Mixed Solvents

The compendium of phase change enthalpies published in two parts in 2016 is updated to include new fusion, vaporization, and sublimation enthalpies published in the interim and includes some earlier data either previously missed or were unavailable. Also included in this article is an update of recent studies on the phase change enthalpies of polyaromatic hydrocarbons. Group values previously evaluated to adjust for temperature of phase changes are updated for aromatic compounds in view of recent experimental data. The new group parameters have been evaluated on the basis of their consistency in providing appropriate temperature adjustments to phase change enthalpies at T = 298 K as evaluated by a thermochemical cycle. This evaluation provides transition temperatures and about 1000 heats of fusion, 700 heats of vaporization, 500 heats of sublimation, and about 50 other heats of transitions for about 30 polyaromatic hydrocarbons and 1100 other molecules consisting of C1-C57 organic compunds, organometallics, inorganic compounds, and ionic liquids taken from about 900 references.

Phase Transition Enthalpy Measurements of Organic Compounds. An Update of Sublimation, Vaporization, and Fusion Enthalpies from 2016 to 2021

The solubility of 1,3-cyclohexanedione form I (CHD1) was determined using a gravimetric method, spanning temperatures from 288.15 to 333.15 K across 14 solvents (acetonitrile, tetrahydrofuran, toluene, chloroform, propanone, 2-butanone, methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, n-propyl acetate, isopropyl acetate, n-butyl acetate, ethyl formate, ethyl propionate, and ethyl butyrate). The experimental solubility data showed a gradual increase with rising temperature. Three empirical models (modified Apelblat equation, the Van’t Hoff equation, and the λh equation) and one theoretical model (NRTL model) were employed to correlate and fit the solubility data of CHD1. The calculated solubility values from all four models were in good agreement with the measured data, with the modified Apelblat equation providing the best correlation. Further, the thermodynamic properties of CHD1 in 14 solvents were calculated, which means the mixing processes of CHD1 are spontaneous and entropy-driven. Besides, solvent properties were studied to gain insights into the solubility behavior of CHD1 in different solvents.

Thermodynamic Studies of Solubilityfor Naphthalene in 12 Solvents from 279 to 330 K

Using the dynamic method over the temperature range of (277 to 340) K at atmosphere pressure, solubility of 4-chloro-2,5-dimethoxynitrobenzene (CDMB) and 4-chloro-2,5-dimethoxyaniline (CDMA) in methanol–water and ethanol–water solvent mixtures, where solute-free mass fraction of methanol and ethanol range from 0.2 to 0.8, and solubility of CDMB, CDMA, and 2,5-dimethoxyaniline (DMAn) in 2-methoxyethanol, 2-ethoxyethanol, 1-methoxy-2-propanol, and diethylene glycol have been investigated. In all solvents, there exists a direct relationship between solubility and temperature. In mixture solvents, the experimental data are correlated using the Wilson and the NRTL models. The solubility of CDMB and CDMA increases with the added amount of methanol or ethanol. In pure organic solvents, significant differences are discerned for the solubility of CDMB, CDMA, and DMAn, and data are correlated with the Wilson, the NRTL, the modified Apelblat, and the λh models.
