The Evolution of Traits Affecting Resource Acquisition and Predator Vulnerability: Character Displacement under Real and Apparent Competition
Peter A. Abrams,Xin Chen +1 more
TL;DR: This article investigates some simple models of the evolutionary interaction between two prey species that share a common resource and a common predator to determine whether examples of character displacement previously interpreted as responses to competition for resources might also reflect responses to altered predation risks in sympatry.

The effect of competition between prey species on the evolution of their vulnerabilities to a shared predator
Peter A. Abrams,Xin Chen +1 more
TL;DR: This study examines the intermediate situation in which prey species compete, but are able to co-exist in the absence of the predator, and finds either parallel change in anti-predator characteristics or divergent change in those characteristics.
How would ecological restoration affect multiple ecosystem service supplies and tradeoffs? A study of mine tailings restoration in China
TL;DR: Zhang et al. as discussed by the authors used the Dashihe mine tailings restoration project in Hebei, China, as a case study and analyzed data from field surveys, remote sensing and literature reviews to study the following two questions: 1) How would multiple ecosystem service supply capabilities and their tradeoffs change after ecological restoration; 2) How can multiple ecosystem services supply capabilities be maximized while minimizing their trade-offs?
