Characterization of the strain-rate–dependent mechanical response of single cell–cell junctions
Amir Monemian Esfahani,Jordan Rosenbohm,Bahareh Tajvidi Safa,Nickolay V. Lavrik,Grayson Minnick,Quan Zhou,Fang Kong,Xiaowei Jin,Eunju Kim,Ying Liu,Yongfeng Lu,Jung Yul Lim,James K. Wahl,Ming Dao,Changjin Huang,Ruiguo Yang,Ruiguo Yang +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a single-cell adhesion micro tensile tester (SCAµTT) using two-photon polymerization and displacement-controlled tensile tests of individual pairs of adherent epithelial cells with a mature cell-cell attachment was designed and fabricated.
Modulation of Mechanical Stress Mitigates Anti-Dsg3 Antibody-Induced Dissociation of Cell–Cell Adhesion
Xiaowei Jin,Jordan Rosenbohm,Eunju Kim,Amir Monemian Esfahani,Kristina Seiffert-Sinha,James K. Wahl,Jung Yul Lim,Jung Yul Lim,Animesh A. Sinha,Ruiguo Yang,Ruiguo Yang +10 more
- 01 Jan 2021
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that externally applied mechanical stress mitigates antibody-induced monolayer fragmentation and inhibits p38 MAPK phosphorylation activated by anti-Dsg3 antibody.
Study of the inhibition effect of thiazone on muscle optical clearing
Xiaowei Jin,Zhichao Deng,Jin Wang,Qing Ye,Jianchun Mei,Wen-Yuan Zhou,Chunping Zhang,Jianguo Tian +7 more
TL;DR: During OC treatment of thiazone, the remarkable effect on skin and the noticeable inhibition effect on subcutaneous muscle tissue after penetrating into the skin should be considered and the experimental results provide such a reference for the choice of penetration enhancer.

A multi-material platform for imaging of single cell-cell junctions under tensile load fabricated with two-photon polymerization
Jordan Rosenbohm,Grayson Minnick,Bahareh Tajvidi Safa,Amir Monemian Esfahani,Xiaowei Jin,Haiwei Zhai,Nickolay V. Lavrik,Ruiguo Yang +7 more
TL;DR: The design and fabrication of a new SCAμTT platform that mitigates autofluorescence is reported and its capability in imaging a single cell pair as its mutual junction is stretched is demonstrated, allowing to observe junction rupture and F-actin retraction while simultaneously recording the accumulation of over 800 kPa of stress in the junction.
