This paper presents a new implementation and evaluation of digital signature for mobile devices. This digital signature system takes into account the device limitations and thus generates a functional digital signature. Its efficiency is described and justified along the paper. It also presents a case study that allows the evaluation of the device implication in the key generation that takes part of the digital signature process.

Digital Signature for Mobile Devices: A New Implementation and Evaluation

Considering the security of both the customers’ hosts and the eShops’ servers, we introduce the idea of a key-insulated undetachable digital signature, enabling mobile agents to generate undetachable digital signatures on remote hosts with the key-insulated property of the original signer’s signing key. From the theoretical perspective, we provide the formal definition and security notion of a key-insulated undetachable digital signature. From the practical perspective, we propose a concrete scheme to secure mobile agents in electronic commerce. The scheme is mainly focused on protecting the signing key from leakage and preventing the misuse of the signature algorithm on malicious servers. Agents do not carry the signing key when they generate digital signatures on behalf of the original signer, so the key is protected on remote servers. Furthermore, if a hacker gains the signing key of the original signer, the hacker is still unable to forge a signature for any time period other than the key being accessed. In addition, the encrypted function is combined with the original signer’s requirement to prevent the misuse of signing algorithm. The scheme is constructed on gap Diffie–Hellman groups with provable security, and the performance testing indicates that the scheme is efficient.

Key-Insulated Undetachable Digital Signature Scheme and Solution for Secure Mobile Agents in Electronic Commerce

To enable mobile agents signing securely on potentially malicious hosts in electronic commerce and other applications, we proposed the definition and security notion of identity-based undetachable digital signature schemes. More importantly, we proposed a concrete identity-based undetachable digital signature scheme with provable security. In the scheme, mobile agents need not carry the private key when they generate digital signatures on behalf of the original signer, so the private key will not be compromised. The encrypted function is combined with the original signer’s requirement, so misuse of the signing algorithm can be prevented. Moreover, because the scheme is identity-based, verification of the signatures generated by mobile agents does not require either verification of the entire certificate path or communication with the certification authority. Therefore, compared with existing undetachable signature schemes, the cost of verification is reduced and even the dependence on a stable network connection is weakened.

Identity-based undetachable digital signature for mobile agents in electronic commerce

We introduce the idea of a forward-secure undetachable digital signature (FS-UDS) in this paper, which enables mobile agents to generate undetachable digital signatures with forward security of the original signer’s signing key. The definition and security notion of an FS-UDS scheme are given. Then, the construction of a concrete FS-UDS scheme is proposed; and the proof of security for the proposed scheme is also provided. In the proposed scheme, mobile agents need not carry the signing key when they generate digital signatures on behalf of the original signer, so the signing key will not be compromised. At the same time, the encrypted function is combined with the original signer’s requirement; therefore, misuse of the signing algorithm can be prevented. Furthermore, in the case where a hacker has accessed the signing key of the original signer, he/she is not able to forge a signature for any time period prior to when the key was obtained.

Secure Mobile Agents in eCommerce with Forward-Secure Undetachable Digital Signatures

Future areas of application for mobile agents technology are open, distributed and decentralized networks, where Mobile Agents autonomously perform tasks on behalf of their principals . In this paper, we address the conceptual design of payments for and between Mobile Agents, particularly against the background of the Malicious Host Problem. We analyze the requirements on payment systems for Mobile Agents and give a survey on existing technical solutions partially matching these requirements. We then discuss a new concept that does not require Mobile Agents to hold secrets and that allows allocations of digital coins and agents even in an environment that contains Malicious Hosts. The concept is based on the principles of accounting systems.

Towards Payment Systems for Mobile Agents.

A security scheme to protect mobile agents against malicious hosts in electronic commerce is proposed. This scheme uses undetachable digital signatures technique and public key encryption algorithms based on ellipse curves to achieve following characteristics: first, the identity of a shop and a customer cannot be forged. Second, the requirements of a customer and the bid of a shop cannot be detached. Third, the identity and the bid information of a shop keep private against other shops. Finally, it's able to resist replay attacks. Furthermore, the scheme also has some computational advantages compared to similar schemes that use RSA cryptosystem.

A security scheme of electronic commerce for mobile agents uses undetachable digital signatures

It is expect that mobile agents technology will bring significant benefits to electronic commerce. But security issues, especially threats from malicious hosts, become a great obstacle of widespread deployment of applications in electronic commerce based on mobile agents technology. Undetachable digital signature is a category of digital signatures to secure mobile agents against malicious hosts. An undetachable signature scheme by using encrypted functions from bilinear pairings was proposed in this paper. The security of this scheme base on the computational intractability of discrete logarithm problem and computational Diffe-Hellman problem on gap Diffle-Hellman group. Furthermore, the scheme satisfies all the requirements of a strong non-designated proxy signature i.e. verifiability, strong unforgeability, strong identifiability, strong undeniability and preventions of misuse. An undetachable threshold signature scheme that enable the customer to provide n mobile agents with ‘shares’ of the undetachable signature function is also provided. It is able to provide more reliability than classical undetachable signatures.
