Piezoelectric-channels in MoS2-embedded polyvinylidene fluoride membrane to activate peroxymonosulfate in membrane filtration for wastewater reuse.

The current investigation focussed on the facile synthesis of MoS 2 /rGO nanocomposite with different weight percentages of MoS 2 (1%, 5% and 15% w.r.t. to rGO) prepared via hydrothermal methods. The effective incorporation of MoS 2 on the GO structures was substantially confirmed via various characterization tools via attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy(UV–VIS), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmision electron microscope (TEM), x-ray diffractometry (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), surface area and pore analyzer, zeta potential and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The nanocomposites were applied as photocatalysts to degrade perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) using a photoreactor equipped with an 18-watt fluorescent lamp. MoS 2 /rGO-15 showed superior photocatalytic properties for degrading PFOA, with kinetic rate constant k = 0.0758 min −1 , and t ½ = 1.524 h under fluorescent light evaluated by using the Langmuir-Hinshelwood (L-H) model. The reusability studies indicated that the MoS 2 /rGO-15 composites can be reused for up to six cycles. Real water sample analysis revealed that MoS 2 /rGO-15 is efficient in degrading PFOA in a river water sample with a 77% degradation percentage. Thus, this research proposed a sustainable solution for photocatalytic degradation of PFOA in water purification under fluorescent light. • A hybrid composite of MoS 2 /rGO was synthesized and for photocatalytic degradation of PFOA. • The kinetic of photocatalytic process was well described by pseudo first order. • MoS 2 /rGO-15 was reusable up to six cycles of applications without losing much its efficiency. 

Photocatalytic degradation of perfluoroctanoic acid (PFOA) via MoS2/rGO for water purification using indoor fluorescent irradiation

The development of highly integrated electronic devices has placed higher demands on the thermal conductivity, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, and electrical insulation properties of electronic packaging materials. In this work, a facile strategy for the fabrication of epoxy composites with Al2O3 platelet-isolated MXene porous microsphere networks was proposed. The composites were prepared by a simple salt-template method under vortex conditions and showed effective electric insulation as well as satisfactory EMI shielding and thermal conductivity properties. Particularly, the EMI shielding performance is enhanced by MXene porous microspheres with multi-interfacial conductive networks. Moreover, Al2O3 platelets (Al2O3p) with shell-like arrangement enrich the thermal conductivity paths on one hand and synergistically interact with the epoxy matrix to intercept the electron transfer between the MXene porous microspheres on the other hand. As a result, the obtained MXene/Al2O3p/Epoxy composites exhibit excellent thermal conductivity (2.1 W/mK) and satisfactory EMI shielding performance (22.3 dB at 8.6 GHz), while maintaining high electrical insulation (1.2 × 109 Ωcm). This paper provided a new idea to synergistically improve the electrical insulation, thermal conductivity and EMI shielding properties of epoxy composites. 

Epoxy composites with satisfactory thermal conductivity and electromagnetic shielding yet electrical insulation enabled by Al2O3 platelet-isolated MXene porous microsphere networks

One scalable and facile dip-coating approach was utilized to construct a thin CO2-selection layer of Pebax/PEGDA-MXene on a hollow fiber PVDF substrate. An interlayer spacing of 3.59 Å was rationally designed and precisely controlled for the MXene stacks in the coated layer, allowing efficient separation of the CO2 (3.3 Å) from N2 (3.6 Å) and CH4 (3.8 Å). In addition, CO2-philic nanodomains in the separation layer were constructed by grafting PEGDA into MXene interlayers, which enhanced the CO2 affinity through the MXene interlayers, while non-CO2-philic nanodomains could promote CO2 transport due to the low resistance. The membrane could exhibit optimal separation performance with a CO2 permeance of 765.5 GPU, a CO2/N2 selectivity of 54.5, and a CO2/CH4 selectivity of 66.2, overcoming the 2008 Robeson upper bounds limitation. Overall, this facile approach endows a precise controlled molecular sieving MXene membrane for superior CO2 separation, which could be applied for interlayer spacing control of other 2D materials during membrane construction.
