Newly synthesized homomultinuclear Co (II) and Cu (II) bissalamo-like complexes: Structural characterizations, Hirshfeld analyses, fluorescence and antibacterial properties

An unprecedented dinuclear CuII complex, [Cu2(L2)2], derived from a salamo-like chelating ligand H2L2, was produced by the cleavage of a newly synthesized, half-salamo-like ligand HL1 (2-[O-(1-ethyloxyamide)]oxime-3,5-dichloro-phenol). This was synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV–Vis and fluorescent spectra, single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, and Hirshfeld surface analysis. X-ray crystallographic analysis indicated that the two CuII (Cu1 and Cu2) ions bore different (N2O3 and N2O2) coordination environments, the penta-coordinated Cu1 ion possessed a slightly twisted tetragonal pyramid geometry with the τ value τ = 0.004, and the tetra-coordinated Cu2 ion showed a slightly twisted square planar geometry. Interestingly, one oxime oxygen atom participated in the coordination reported previously. Moreover, an infinite two-dimensional layered supramolecular network was formed. Compared with HL1, the CuII complex possessed the characteristic of fluorescence quenching.

Unprecedented Dinuclear CuII N,O-Donor Complex: Synthesis, Structural Characterization, Fluorescence Property, and Hirshfeld Analysis

A new homo-trinuclear Ni(II) half-salamo-based complex [Ni3(L)2(μ-OAc)2(OAc)2(CH3OH)2]·2CH3OH was synthesized via the reaction of a tridentate ligand HL (2-[O-(1-ethyloxyamide)]oxime-4-bromophenol) and Ni(OAc)2·4H2O, and characterized using elemental analyses, IR spectra, UV-Vis absorption spectra, X-ray crystallography, and Hirshfeld analysis. Interestingly, single-crystal X-ray analysis showed that the two acetate molecules were bonded simultaneously with the Ni(II) atoms by mono-dentate chelating and bidentate bridging coordination modes, respectively, and the resulting hexa-coordinate geometries were ultimately formed. Furthermore, the Hirshfeld analysis of the complex was studied. Compared with HL, the complex fluorescence intensity was significantly lowered, indicating that the Ni(II) ions have fluorescence quenching characteristics.

Syntheses, luminescences and Hirshfeld surfaces analyses of structurally characterized homo-trinuclear ZnII and hetero-pentanuclear ZnII-LnIII (Ln = Eu, Nd) bis(salamo)-like complexes

Heterobimetallic [NiIILnIII] (Ln = Sm and Tb) N2O4-donor coordination polymers: Syntheses, crystal structures and fluorescence properties

The employment of a multidentate salicylamide salen-like ligand, 2-hydroxy-N-(2-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)ethyl)benzamide (H3L), in aid of NO3− anions under weak basic conditions in ZnII–LnIII chemistry (Ln = Eu, 1 and Dy, 2) led to the isolation of two novel butterfly heterometallic dodecanuclear clusters with six LnIII ions occupying the body position and six ZnII ions the outer wing-tip sites. All of them are fully characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, TG analysis, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) techniques. Luminescence studies indicate that 1 exhibits dual emission, while 2 exhibits a bright blue emission under visible light excitation. Furthermore, magnetic susceptibility studies carried out for 2 indicate that the magnetic exchange between DyIII ions revealed ferromagnetic interactions with interesting slow relaxation of magnetization of the SMM behavior.

To develop a LnIII complex-supported chemsensor, two new phenoxy bridged dinuclear EuIII complexes, [Eu2(H2L)3(NO3)3]·3CH3CN (EuL) and [Eu2(H2L′)2(NO3)4]·3CH3CN (EuL′), constructed by two new structurally related salicylamide salen-like ligands, 1-(2-hydroxy-benzamido)-2-(2-hydroxy-5-nitro-benzylideneamino)-ethane (H3L) and 1-(2-hydroxy-benzamido)-2-(2-hydroxy-4-diethylamino-benzylideneamino)-ethane (H3L′), have been synthesized and structural analysis shows that the different substitution groups on 2-(iminomethyl)phenol moiety have significant effects on their structures. Upon excitation of the ligand-centered absorption band at 375 nm, emissions both originating from ligands and EuIII ions were observed in the two EuIII compounds with the EuIII-centered emission intensity more than three times higher than that of ligand-centered emission. The capability of EuL and EuL′ for selective detection Al3+ ions were evaluated and the results indicate EuL exhibits a turn-on luminescent enhancement as high as 5.7 fold with Kd = 1.53 × 10−4 in CH3CN, but comparable compound EuL′ could not detect Al3+ among various cations. The considerably ‘turn-on’ luminescence response of EuL concomitantly led to the apparent color change from reddish to brilliant red, which could also be identified by naked eyes easily under UV lamp. This luminescence enhanced response can be explained in terms of the decrease of non-radiative transitions in EuL in addition to excited-state intra-molecular proton transfer (ESIPT) and photo-induced electron transfer suppression upon Al3+ coordination which is also rationalized by a theoretical calculation.
