Comparison of buckwheat genomes reveals the genetic basis of metabolomic divergence and ecotype differentiation.
Ming-Yang He,Yuqi He,Kaixuan Zhang,Xiang Lu,Xuemei Zhang,Bin Gao,Yu Fan,Hui Zhao,Rintu Jha,Md. Nurul Huda,Yu Tang,Junzhen Wang,Wei-Fei Yang,Mingli Yan,Jianping Cheng,Jingjun Ruan,E Dulloo,Zongwen Zhang,Milen I. Georgiev,Mark A. Chapman,Meiliang Zhou +20 more
TL;DR: In this article , a 1-to-1 syntenic relationship between the chromosomes of the golden buckwheat and Tartary buckwheats was identified, and two large inversions were identified that differentiate the two species, namely, FdMYB44 and FdCRF4.

Multi‐omics identification of a key glycosyl hydrolase gene FtGH1 involved in rutin hydrolysis in Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum)
Dili Lai,Kaixuan Zhang,Yuqi He,Wei Li,Yaliang Shi,Yuanfen Gao,Xiang Lu,Jianping Cheng,Jingjun Ruan,Meiliang Zhou +9 more
TL;DR: A potential mechanism behind rutin metabolism is revealed, which should provide both theoretical support in the study of flavonoid metabolism and in the molecular breeding of Tartary buckwheat.

Genomic insight into the origin, domestication, dispersal, diversification and human selection of Tartary buckwheat
Yuqi He,Kaixuan Zhang,Yaliang Shi,Hao Lin,Xu Huang,Xiang Lu,Zhirong Wang,Wei Li,Xibo Feng,Taoxiong Shi,Qingfu Chen,Junzhen Wang,Yu Tang,Mark A. Chapman,Mateja Germ,Zlata Luthar,Ivan Kreft,Dagmar Janovská,Vladimir Meglič,Sun-Hee Woo,Muriel Quinet,Alisdair R. Fernie,Xu Liu,Meiliang Zhou +23 more
TL;DR: It is found that Tartary buckwheat originated in the Himalayan region and then spread southwest possibly along with the migration of the Yi people, a minority in Southwestern China that has a long history of planting Tartary buckwheat.

Comparative and population genomics of buckwheat species reveal key determinants of flavor and fertility
Kaixuan Zhang,Yuqi He,Xiang Lu,Yaliang Shi,Hui Zhao,Xiaobo Li,Jinlong Li,Yang Liu,Yinan Ouyang,Yu Tang,Xue Ren,Xuemei Zhang,Wei-Fei Yang,Zhaoxia . Sun,Chunhua Zhang,Muriel Quinet,Zlata Luthar,Mateja Germ,Ivan Kreft,Dagmar Janovská,Vladimir Meglič,Barbara Pipan,Milen I. Georgiev,Bruno Studer,Mark A. Chapman,Meiliang Zhou +25 more
TL;DR: The assembly of a chromosome-scale high-quality reference genome of F. esculentum var.

FtbZIP12 Positively Regulates Responses to Osmotic Stress in Tartary Buckwheat
Wenfeng Weng,Xiang Lu,Meiliang Zhou,An J. Gao,Xin Yao,Yong-Hua Tang,Weijiao Wu,Chao Ma,Qing Bai,Ruiqi Xiong,Jingjun Ruan +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a novel ABF family in Tartary buckwheat, FortbZIP12, was cloned and characterized, and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) results showed that the typical genes related to stress, SOS pathway, and the proline synthesis pathway in Arabidopsis were significantly upregulated under osmotic stress.
