Use of medical exome sequencing for identification of underlying genetic defects in NICU: Experience in a cohort of 2303 neonates in China
Lin Yang,Zejun Wei,Xiang Chen,Liyuan Hu,Xiaomin Peng,Jin Wang,Chunmei Lu,Yanting Kong,Xinran Dong,Qi Ni,Yulan Lu,Bingbing Wu,Huijun Wang,Katia Meirelles,Xia Tian,Jing Zhang,Fengqi Chang,Liu Liu,Changhua Li,Wesley You,Guoqiang Cheng,Laishuan Wang,Yun Cao,Chao Chen,Ping Fang,Sha Tang,Wenhao Zhou,Wenhao Zhou +27 more
TL;DR: In this paper, focused medical exome sequencing was used as a first-tier, singleton-focused diagnostic tool for 2303 unrelated sick neonates, and the diagnostic rate in this NICU cohort is 12.3% (284/2303).

Comprehensive identification of sugar transporters in the Malus spp. genomes reveals their potential functions in sugar accumulation in apple fruits
TL;DR: In this article , the sugar transporter genes were identified in the updated apple genome (GDDH13 v1.1) and clustered into ten sub-families, and the apple ST genes mapped to all 17 apple chromosomes and had experienced wholegenome duplication (WGD)/segmental duplication and tandem duplication during the process of apple domestication.

Uptake of glucose from the rhizosphere, mediated by apple MdHT1.2, regulates carbohydrate allocation.
Xia Tian,Hui-Cheng Zou,Qian Xiao,Lingcheng Zhu,Yuxing Li,Baiquan Ma,Ningbo Cui,Yong-Ling Ruan,Fengwang Ma,Mingjun Li +9 more
TL;DR: Zhang et al. as discussed by the authors identified an apple (Malus × domestica Borkh) hexose transporter, MdHT1.2, that functions on the root epidermis to absorb glucose from the rhizosphere.

Glucose uptake from the rhizosphere mediated by MdDOF3-MdHT1.2 regulates drought resistance in apple.
Xia Tian,Yuxing Li,Shaoteng Wang,Hui Zou,Qian Xiao,Baiquan Ma,Fengwang Ma,Mingjun Li +7 more
TL;DR: The findings deciphered the molecular mechanism through which glucose uptake from the rhizosphere is mediated by MdDOF3-MdHT1.2, which acts to modulate sugar content in root and promote drought resistance.
