Letter by Urra et al regarding article, "Autoimmune responses to the brain after stroke are associated with worse outcome".
Xabier Urra,Anna M Planas,Ángel Chamorro +2 more
TL;DR: The study confirms that immune responses to various brain antigens can be found in patients after stroke and describes that 90-day outcome was mainly associated to autoimmunity to myelin basic protein, raising the question of whether the consequences of autoIMmunity vary depending on the antigen specificity.

Different Perfusion Patterns in a Patient with Acute Ischemic Stroke
TL;DR: This case shows that besides hypoperfusion, hyperperfusion can also be found in the first stages of acute stroke, and it is highly suggestive of established ischemic lesions.

Toward Effective Combination Therapy and Pleiotropic Drugs
Sergio Amaro,Xabier Urra,Ángel Chamorro +2 more
- 01 Jan 2017
TL;DR: Given the encouraging preclinical and clinical data regarding the potential neuroprotective effects of uric acid administration in combination with reperfusion in acute brain ischaemia, the development of adequately powered pivotal confirmatory clinical trials is warranted.

Intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging for cerebral cavernous malformations: When is it maybe worth it?
Ramon Torné,Xabier Urra,Thomaz E. Topczeswki,Abel Ferres,Sergio García-García,Ana Rodríguez-Hernández,Luis San Roman,Nicolás de Riva,Joaquim Enseñat +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the clinical utility of iMRI for cerebral cavernous malformations (CCM) surgery and proposed criteria for the selection of patients who may benefit the most from iMRI.

Letter by Semerano et al Regarding Article, "Higher Incidence of Ischemic Stroke in Patients Taking Novel Oral Anticoagulants".
TL;DR: It is found that ischemic stroke is overall more prevalent than intracranial hemorrhage in anticoagulated patients with atrial fibrillation, and it would find it interesting to know the usefulness of warfarin versus NOACs in patients at high risk of bleeding.
