The coupled field, Magnetic-thermal-structural analysis has been carried out for 230 kV bare and nano Fe coated busbar. The integrated coupled field analytical equations were developed by using electrical parameters to predetermine the temperature rise and mechanical stress. The finite element method software ANSYS APDL commercial package has been used for simulation analysis with magneto-thermal-structural sequential weak coupling methods. The 6061-T6 hollow aluminium busbar size of 1 m length and 8 mm thickness with the load current of 1000 A was modelled and the magnetic field effect was analysed through magnetostatic solver. From the analysis, it was inferred that the nano iron coated busbar diminishes the magnetic field around 80% in the vicinity areas. The magnetic field reduction is achieved by high conductivity and high permeability of the material. It also reduces the rise of temperature by 4 °C with the property of high thermal conductivity, thus reduces the thermal flux by 50 W m−2. Thermal dependent mechanical stress is decreased by 35% for coated conductor compare with the bare conductor. Due to the thermal expansion coefficient, the coated material aid to protect the busbar against the mechanical stress. The simulation results were analyzed and compared with the analytical results. The nano coated conductor exhibit the low electromagnetic pollution in the environment by reducing the electromagnetic field and temperature rise.

Investigation on magneto-thermal-structural coupled field effect of nano coated 230 kV busbar

This research paper investigates the influence of shielding and core materials on the performance of dynamic wireless charging (DWC) systems. A 2D model for finite element analysis (FEA) is developed to assess the flux density of coil structures within the DWC system, considering various combinations of shielding and core materials. Specifically, the study focuses on employing an aluminum shield and a ferrite core in the DWC system. Through the finite element analysis, the mutual inductance and efficiency of the DWC system are evaluated, with the simulations accounting for the presence of the aluminum shield and ferrite core to discern their impact on system performance. The FEA analysis is instrumental in determining the mutual inductance and power transferred under different scenarios, thus enabling technical evaluation. The research findings reveal the ramifications of using specific shielding and core materials on the performance of the DWC system, offering insights into the finest configurations for various applications. The novelty of this study lies in leveraging FEA analysis to comprehensively evaluate the influence of shielding and core materials on DWC system performance. As a result, this work presents valuable guidance for designing and configuring DWC systems tailored to specific applications. The insights provided pave the way for an enhanced understanding of DWC systems, ultimately fostering advancements in wireless charging technology. 

A Comprehensive Examination of Shielding and Core Influence through Finite Element Analysis for the Dynamic Wireless Charging Magnetic Coupler

Inductive power transfer (IPT) is a practical and preferable method for wireless electric vehicle (EV) charging which proved to be safe, convenient and reliable. Due to the air gap between the magnetic coupler, the magnetic field coupling decreases and the magnetic leakage increases significantly compared to traditional transformer, and this may lead to the magnetic flux density around the coupler more than the safety limit for human. So magnetic shielding should be adding to the winding made from litz wire to enhance the magnetic field coupling effect in the working area and reduce magnetic field strength in non-working area. Magnetic shielding can be achieved by adding high-permeability material or high-conductivity material. For high-permeability material its magnetic reluctance is much lower than the surrounding air medium so most of the magnetic line goes through the high-permeability material rather than surrounding air. For high-conductivity material the eddy current in the material can produce reverse magnetic field to achieve magnetic shielding. This paper studies the effect of the two types of shielding material on coupler for wireless EV charging and designs combination shielding made from high-permeability material and high-conductivity material. The investigation of the paper is done with the help of finite element analysis.
