The force effect of the shockwave generated by the short-pulse and ultra-short-pulse laser enables the laser to enhance the mechanical properties of the material without ablating the material, improve the microstructure, change the shape of the material, and remove the tiny particles attached to the surface of the material, etc. Therefore, it is widely used in surface strengthening, surface cleaning, metal forming, etc. Laser shock peening (LSP) and laser shock cleaning (LSC) are two applications of laser shockwave in surface processing. The force effect of the laser shockwave allows non-thermal treatment has been used in aerospace, biomedical, semiconductor, etc. This paper reviews the principle of laser shockwave effects and the existing processing methods of short laser-included plasma shockwave; the numerical model of laser shock effects, including the laser–material interaction model and surface processing model; the effects of laser parameters on processing performance; the mechanical properties, the microstructure, and the surface features; finally, the future research and development of laser shock effect are prospected.

The invention discloses an ultrashort pulse laser induced plasma assisted electric spark compound processing device and an ultrashort pulse laser induced plasma assisted electric spark compound processing method under action of a magnetic field and belongs to the field of laser processing and electric spark compound processing of special processing. The device compounds a laser induced plasma processing unit, an electric spark processing unit and a compound magnetic field unit together organically. The laser induced plasma processing unit comprises an ultrashort pulse laser, a laser power supply, a water cooler and a light path conversion assembly. The compound magnetic field comprises a direct current excitation power supply and an annular electromagnet. The electric spark processing unitcomprises a five-degree-of-freedom precision platform for controlling a workpiece to move expectedly. The device and the method provided by the invention sole the problem that it is hard to process alow conductivity material and achieve cross-dimension processing and the processed surface is not enough high in quality in the electric spark processing technology, and have a very wide applicationprospect.

The invention discloses a picosecond laser-assisted electric spark machining device and method, and belongs to the technical field of combination of laser machining and electric spark machining in special machining. The picosecond laser-assisted electric spark machining device comprises a magnetic field control unit, a picosecond laser induced plasma unit and an electric spark machining unit. Themagnetic field control unit is used for controlling expansion and contraction of plasma plume and the contour of a plasma channel by utilizing a magnetic field after electrification. Laser emitted bya picosecond laser device in the picosecond laser induced plasma unit enters the surface of a to-be-machined material after passing through an adjustable optical path conversion assembly to generate plasma in an induction mode; translational movement of the to-be-machined material along the X axis, the Y axis and the Z axis is realized in the electric spark machining unit through a working platform, a working electrode is driven by a motor to move horizontally and rotate along the Z axis, an electrode gap is adjusted, a voltage is applied in the electrode gap to trigger electric spark discharge, and the to-be-machined material is machined. The picosecond laser-assisted electric spark machining device and method can realize high-efficiency low-damage micromachining.
