The Genetic Evolution of Melanoma from Precursor Lesions
A. Hunter Shain,Iwei Yeh,Ivanka Kovalyshyn,Aravindhan Sriharan,Eric Talevich,Alexander Gagnon,Reinhard Dummer,Jeffrey P. North,Laura B. Pincus,Beth S. Ruben,William Rickaby,Corrado D’Arrigo,Alistair Robson,Boris C. Bastian +13 more
TL;DR: The succession of genetic alterations during melanoma progression was defined, showing distinct evolutionary trajectories for different melanoma subtypes, and an intermediate category of melanocytic neoplasia was identified, characterized by the presence of more than one pathogenic genetic alteration and distinctive histopathological features.

Abstract 2372: The genetic evolution of melanoma
Alan Hunter Shain,Richard Yu,Iwei Yeh,Jamal Benhamida,Ivanka Kovalyshyn,Aravindhan Sriharan,Eric Talevich,Reinhard Dummer,Jeffrey P. North,Laura B. Pincus,Beth S. Ruben,William Rickaby,Corrado D’Arrigo,Alistair Robson,Robert L. Judson,Nancy M. Joseph,Boris C. Bastian +16 more
TL;DR: A framework of the genetic evolution of melanocytic neoplasm from precursor lesions is outlined and the rate-limiting homeostatic factors that become disrupted as neoplasms progress from one stage to the next are unveiled, as are the pathogenic factors driving this evolution.

Two cases of benign fibrous histiocytomas (dermatofibromas) associated with Langerhans cell histiocytosis
TL;DR: These cases represent the first published association of FH and LCH and the LCs showed positivity for BRAF V600E immunohistochemistry, a finding reported in neoplastic but not reactive LCs 1.
