The 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary Debates: Exploring Politeness Strategies for Facing an Aggressive Incumbent
TL;DR: The authors applied politeness theory to the thirteen Democratic primary debates of the 2020 campaign with comparisons to previous findings regarding the 2012 and 2016 Republican primary debates, and found that the politeness of the Democratic debates was significantly worse than the Republican debates.
