A critical functional missense mutation (H173R) in the bovine PROP1 gene significantly affects growth traits in cattle.
TL;DR: The findings revealed that the "A" allele had positive effects on growth traits, which was consistent with the increasing binding ability and enhanced activation capacity associated with the bovine isoform PROP1-173H, representing the "B" allele.

Novel Nucleotide Variations, Haplotypes Structure and Associations with Growth Related Traits of Goat AT Motif-Binding Factor (ATBF1) Gene.
Xiaoyan Zhang,Xianfeng Wu,Wenchao Jia,Chuanying Pan,Xiangcheng Li,Chuzhao Lei,Hong Chen,Xianyong Lan +7 more
TL;DR: Seven novel single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (SNP 1-7) within this gene were found in two well-known Chinese native goat breeds and would contribute to implementing marker-assisted selection in genetics and breeding in goats.
Novel genetic variants associated with mRNA expression of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3) gene significantly affected goat growth traits
Wenchao Jia,Xianfeng Wu,Xiangchen Li,Tian Xia,Chuzhao Lei,Hong Chen,Chuanying Pan,Chuanying Pan,Xianyong Lan +8 more
TL;DR: Three novel single nucleotide polymorphisms within the STAT3 gene are reported, showing a positive association between either a single SNP locus or and combined genotypes of two- or three-loci associations with some growth traits in two Chinese native goat breeds.

Determination of the novel genetic variants of goat STAT5A gene and their effects on body measurement traits in two Chinese native breeds
Xianfeng Wu,Wenchao Jia,Jingjing Zhang,Xiangcheng Li,Chuanying Pan,Chuzhao Lei,Hong Chen,Ruihua Dang,Xianyong Lan +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identify novel genetic variants of the goat STAT5A gene, as well as test the possible effects of these variants on body measurement traits in the Xinong Saanen dairy goat (XNSN, milking breed) and the Hainan black goat (HNBG, meat breed) that thrive in Northwest China and Southeast China, respectively, which concurrently need improvement in terms of growth.

Expression of TAT recombinant Oct4, Sox2, Lin28, and Nanog proteins from baculovirus-infected Sf9 insect cells.
TL;DR: A method for virus-free transient gene expression from suspension-adapted Sf9 insect cells using the baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS), which indicated that most of the recombinant proteins remained in the nuclei of the Sf 9 insect cells and were therefore unavailable for purification and cellular reprogramming.
