TGF-β participates choroid neovascularization through Smad2/3-VEGF/TNF-α signaling in mice with Laser-induced wet age-related macular degeneration
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that TGF-β/Smad signaling plays an important role in Laser-induced CNV formation through down-regulation of VEGF and TNF-α expressions, suggesting TGF -β inhibitors may provide an alternative to traditional methods in wet AMD treatment.

Activation of brown adipocytes by placental growth factor.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that serum levels of PlGF were lower in GDM patients compared with controls, which was accompanied by decreased skin temperature in the supraclavicular region, indicating that PlGF could activate BAT function.

A genome-wide association study of gestational diabetes mellitus in Chinese women.
Nannan Wu,Nannan Wu,Dong Zhao,Wei Ma,Jia-Nan Lang,Simo Liu,Ying Fu,Xin Wang,Zongwei Wang,Qiang Li +9 more
TL;DR: The identification of these potential genes associating with GDM enriched the potential molecular mechanisms of GDM in Asia and will provide abundant stocks for subsequent clinical verifications for better understanding the molecular mechanisms, diagnosis, drug development and clinical treatment of G DM.
Brown adipogenic potential of brown adipocytes and peri-renal adipocytes from human embryo.
Nannan Wu,Chuanhai Zhang,Hyuek-Jong Lee,Yan Ma,Xin Wang,Xiao-Juan Ma,Wei Ma,Dong Zhao,Ying-Mei Feng +8 more
TL;DR: Peri-renal adipocyte progenitors in human embryo hold browning potential for BAC production as demonstrated by dissecting adipose tissues from human embryo and obtained from an adult.
