Two Epstein-Barr Virus–Related Serologic Antibody Tests in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Screening: Results From the Initial Phase of a Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial in Southern China
Zhiwei Liu,Ming Fang Ji,Qi Hong Huang,Fang Fang,Qing Liu,Wei Hua Jia,Xiang Guo,Shang Hang Xie,Feng Chen,Yue Liu,Hao Yuan Mo,Wan Li Liu,Yuan Long Yu,Wei Min Cheng,You Ye Yang,Biao Hua Wu,Kuang Rong Wei,Wei Ling,Xiao Lin,Er Hong Lin,Weimin Ye,Ming Huang Hong,Yi Xin Zeng,Su Mei Cao +23 more
TL;DR: The 2 Epstein-Barr virus serologic tests by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay could be a feasible alternative for NPC screening in endemic areas and further follow-up is needed to examine whether screening has an effect on decreasing mortality from NPC in these areas.

Prognostic implication of pretreatment titer of serum immunoglobulin A against Epstein-Barr virus capsid antigen in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients in Sihui, Guangdong.
TL;DR: Pretreatment serum EBV-VCA/IgA titer may be used as an independent prognostic marker of NPC in patients treated in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center between 1990 and 2003.

Utility of Epstein-Barr Virus DNA in Nasopharynx Swabs as a Reflex Test to Triage Seropositive Individuals in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Screening Programs.
Geng Hang Chen,Zhiwei Liu,Kelly J. Yu,Anna E. Coghill,Xiao-Xia Chen,Shang Hang Xie,D. C. Lin,Qi-Hong Huang,Yu-Qiang Lu,Wei Ling,Chu-Yang Lin,Zi-Jian Lu,Yu-ying Fan,Lin-Quan Tang,Joshua N. Sampson,Hui Li,Ann D. King,Jaap M. Middeldorp,Allan Hildesheim,Su Mei Cao +19 more
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper used EBV DNA in the nasopharynx swab as a reflex test to triage EBV seropositives within an NPC screening program in China.
Effect of EBV Serology-based Screening Program on NPC Mortality: A Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial
W. Chen,X Yu,Y. Q. Lu,Ruth M. Pfeiffer,Wei Ling,Shang Hang Xie,Z. C. Wu,X.Q. Li,Y-y Fan,Biao Hua Wu,Kuangrong Wei,H. Rao,Qi-Hong Huang,X Guo,Y. Sun,J. F. Ma,Q. Liu,Allan Hildesheim,Ming Huang Hong,Yuhong Zeng,Ming Jia,Z. Liu,Su Mei Cao +22 more
TL;DR: EBV antibody-based screening for NPC is effective at reducing NPC mortality in high-risk populations and was increased among individuals from towns randomized to screening who participated in the screening program.

Association between solid fuel use and seropositivity against Epstein-Barr virus in a high-risk area for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
Mengmeng Li,Wen-Jie Chen,Jun Yang,Hadrien Charvat,Shang Hang Xie,Tong Li,Wei Ling,Yu-Qiang Lu,Qing Liu,Ming Huang Hong,Su Mei Cao +10 more
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors explored the association between current use of solid fuel in cooking and EBV seropositivity, and NPC-related EBV activation, using logistic regression models.
