A Compositional Classification For Grain Assemblages In Fine-Grained Sediments and Sedimentary Rocks—Discussion
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider the proposed classification impracticable because there are ambiguities associated with interpreting grain origins (intrabasinal or extrabasinal), difficulties in determining the original mineralogy of diagenetically altered particles, and requirements for specialized equipment and techniques not widely available to many geologists.

Enhancing SEM Grayscale Images through Pseudocolor Conversion: Examples from Eagle Ford, Haynesville, and Marcellus Shales

- 01 Jan 2013
TL;DR: In this paper, a pseudocolor conversion technique is described using the ImageJ digital image processing and analysis program that can improve the ability to interpret and communicate information contained within scanning electron microscopic (SEM) images of shales.

Case Studies of 3-D Raytrace Modeling For Subsalt Exploration And Development In Offshore Louisiana, Gulf of Mexico
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of 3-D prestack depth migration in three subsalt areas in offshore Louisiana, Gulf of Mexico, were studied using ray trace modeling, including Ship Shoal, South Timbalier, and Grand Isle.

Marine 4-Component Seismic Test, Gulf of Mexico: Subsalt Imaging at Mahogany Field
Jack Caldwell,Paal Kristiansen,Gerard Beaudoin,Kurt Tollestrup,Sayeed Siddiqui,Kay Dautenhahn Wyatt,Wayne K. Camp,Glenn Raney +7 more
TL;DR: A marine 4-component seismic test was conducted over Mahogany Field in the Gulf of Mexico during the latter part of 1997 and the early part of 1998 as discussed by the authors, where the primary purpose of the test was to evaluate the ability of the 4component technique using seabed cables to record identifiable and coherent shear wave energy from beneath large salt bodies.
